Muscle Spasm - Overview
Muscle spasms, also called muscle cramps, are contractions caused in muscle or group of muscles which are involuntary in nature. They can occur in any muscle in the body, and are commonly experienced in the feet, legs, and back. If you experience muscle spasms, your doctor may recommend tablets for muscle spasm relief. Muscle spasms can be caused by a variety of factors, including electrolyte imbalances, dehydration, overuse, or injury of a muscle.
Treatment options may include stretching and massage, hydration, and over-the-counter medicines for muscle spasm. In some cases, medical intervention may be necessary to address underlying medical conditions or to alleviate severe or chronic muscle spasms.
Symptoms Of Muscle Spasm
The symptoms of muscle spasm may differ depending on the severity of the spasm and the location. Common symptoms include:
- Sudden and intense muscle pain
- Muscle stiffness or tightness
- Muscle weakness
- Twitching or jerking of the affected muscle
In some cases, muscle spasms can also cause limited range of motion or immobility of the affected body part.
Treatment For Muscle Spasm
Muscle spasms are involuntary contractions of muscles that can cause pain and discomfort. Medications are often prescribed to relieve the symptoms associated with muscle spasms. A specific tablet for spasm control may be prescribed based on the severity and underlying cause. The tablets typically contain muscle relaxants. In more severe cases, an injection for muscle spasm management could be administered for quicker relief. The injections may contain a variety of medications, including muscle relaxants and pain relievers. The use of muscle spasm medication should always be prescribed by a doctor.
