Introduction About EPIMAC PLUS TABLET
EPIMAC PLUS TABLET is a combination of Eperisone and Paracetamol which belongs to the group of medicines called Muscle relaxants and Analgesics respectively. It is used to manage pain due to muscle spasm.
Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking this medicine as it may severely damage the liver. EPIMAC PLUS TABLET should be used with caution in patients with asthma, liver disease or disorder and kidney disease.
EPIMAC PLUS TABLET should be used with caution in pregnant women unless advised by the doctor and it is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women. EPIMAC PLUS TABLET is not recommended for use in children due to lack of safety data and it should be used with caution in elderly patients (aged 65 years and above).
The most common side effects of taking EPIMAC PLUS TABLET are nausea, vomiting, stomach discomfort, abdominal pain, general discomfort and constipation. Consult your doctor if any of the side effects worsen over the time.

EPIMAC PLUS TABLET helps to manage pain due to muscle spasm, where eperisone works by acting on the centres in the brain and spinal cord. It also dilates vascular smooth muscles improving blood flow and relieves muscle spasm. Paracetamol works by increasing the pain threshold by inhibiting COX-1 and COX-2 enzymes.
How to use EPIMAC PLUS TABLET
Take EPIMAC PLUS TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow EPIMAC PLUS TABLET with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition. Do not stop taking EPIMAC PLUS TABLET without informing your doctor.
Side Effects Of EPIMAC PLUS TABLET
Common
- nausea, vomiting
- loss of appetite, gastric discomfort
- abdominal pain
- diarrhea, constipation
- light-headedness, drowsiness
- lack of energy
- general discomfort
- rash, itching
- erythema multiforme exudativum (red and raised rash)
Rare
- depression, confusion, hallucinations
- tremor, headache

- oedema (abnormal accumulation of fluid under the skin)
- bleeding from stomach or intestines
- dizziness, fever
Stop taking EPIMAC PLUS TABLET and contact your physician immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
- severe allergic reactions (signs include swelling of the face, lips, tongue, neck or throat causing difficulty in breathing)
- anaphylactoid symptoms (such as itchiness, edema (such as facial), respiratory distress)
- steven-johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrosis (signs include fever, erythema, bloodshot eyes)
How To Manage Side Effects
Constipation
Try to eat more high-fiber foods such as fresh fruit, vegetables, cereals and drink plenty of water. Exercise regularly (such as daily walk). If this does not help, consult your doctor for receiving alternate management for constipation.
Diarrhea
Drink lot of fluids such as water or fruit juices to keep yourself hydrated. Do not take any medicine on your own for managing diarrhoea. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve.
Headache
Rest and relax. Drink plenty of fluids such as water or electrolytes and apply a pain-relieving balm on the forehead if necessary. Do not consume alcohol. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve.
Nausea And Vomiting
Take this medicine with or immediately after food. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily, fried and spicy foods. Do not perform any strenuous activities immediately after eating. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve.
Stomach Pain
Try to rest and relax. Eat and drink slowly or try to have smaller and frequent meals. Keep a heating pad on your stomach. If the symptom does not improve, consult your doctor.

- deficiency of glucose- 6-phosphatedehydrogenase enzyme
- serious infection such as blood poisoning

A. Drug-Drug interactions:
Before taking EPIMAC PLUS TABLET inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:
- methocarbamol (used to manage muscle spasm)
- probenecid (used to manage gout)
- salicylamide (used to manage fever and pain)
- lamotrigine, phenytoin (used to manage epilepsy)
- barbiturates such as pentobarbital, phenobarbital or carbamazepine (medicines used to manage mental disorders and epilepsy)
- chloramphenicol, rifampicin, isoniazid (medicines used to manage bacterial infections)
- St. john’s wort (used to manage depression)
- medicines that delay emptying of stomach (Ex. dicyclomine)
- anticoagulants Ex. warfarin (medicines used to manage or manage blood clots)
- medicines used for nausea and vomiting (Ex. metoclopramide, domperidone)
- cholestyramine (medicines used to lower high cholesterol levels)
- imatinib (medicine used to manage leukaemia and some stomach tumours)
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of EPIMAC PLUS TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Overdosage symptoms of EPIMAC PLUS TABLET inlcudes nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, paleness, stomach pain and liver damage.
