Introduction About ITORIHENZ 150 CAPSULE

ITORIHENZ 150 CAPSULE contains Itopride which belongs to a group of medicine called Gastroprokinetic agents. It is used in the management of gastrointestinal symptoms of functional dyspepsia (indigestion) and non-ulcer dyspepsia (bloating, upper abdominal pain, anorexia, heartburn, nausea and vomiting). ITORIHENZ 150 CAPSULE is not recommended for use in patients with an increase in gastrointestinal motility (gastrointestinal bleeding, mechanical obstruction or perforation).

The safety and effectiveness of ITORIHENZ 150 CAPSULE in pregnant women and children under 16 years of age have not yet been established. It is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women. ITORIHENZ 150 CAPSULE should be used with caution in elderly patients. The most common side effects of taking ITORIHENZ 150 CAPSULE are diarrhoea, constipation, headache, abdominal pain, dizziness or feeling irritation. Consult your doctor if symptoms do not improve.

  • Manage gastrointestinal symptoms of functional and non-ulcer indigestion (chronic gastritis)

How ITORIHENZ 150 CAPSULE Works

ITORIHENZ 150 CAPSULE stops the activity of the dopamine D2 receptor and increases acetylcholine (messenger in the nervous system) concentrations which accelerates gastric emptying, improves gastric movement and reduces nausea and vomiting.

How to use ITORIHENZ 150 CAPSULE

Always take ITORIHENZ 150 CAPSULE exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the right dose and duration for you depending on your age, body weight and disease condition.

Side Effects Of ITORIHENZ 150 CAPSULE

Common

  • diarrhoea
  • constipation
  • headache, dizziness
  • abdominal pain
  • feeling irritated

How To Manage Side Effects

Constipation: 

Take fiber-rich foods such as fresh fruit, vegetables and cereals, and drink plenty of water. Exercise more regularly. Consult your doctor if symptoms do not improve.

Headache:

Rest and drink plenty of fluids. Apply a cold, wet cloth, or ice pack to your forehead. Rest in a quiet, comfortable, dark room. Consult your doctor if symptoms do not improve.

Diarrhoea:

Drink a lot of fluids, such as water or squash, to avoid dehydration. Do not take any other medicines without speaking to a doctor. Consult your doctor if symptoms do not improve.

Stomach pain:

Try to rest and relax. You can eat and drink slowly or small have frequent meals. Keeping a heat pad on your stomach may also help. If pain persists, speak to your doctor.

Pregnancy

ITORIHENZ 150 CAPSULE is not recommended for use in pregnant women unless the benefits outweigh the potential risks. Consult your doctor before taking it.

Breastfeeding

ITORIHENZ 150 CAPSULE is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it is excreted in the breast milk. Your doctor will decide whether to discontinue nursing or to discontinue the drug, considering the importance of the drug to the mother.

Allergy

Do not take ITORIHENZ 150 CAPSULE if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to this medicine or any other ingredients in this medicine.

Others

ITORIHENZ 150 CAPSULE is not recommended for use if you:

  • have an increase in gastrointestinal motility (gastrointestinal bleeding, mechanical obstruction or perforation)

Use in pediatrics:

The safety and effectiveness of ITORIHENZ 150 CAPSULE in children under 16 years of age has not been established yet. Consult your doctor before using it.

Use in geriatrics:

ITORIHENZ 150 CAPSULE should be used with caution in elderly patients due to greater incidence of kidney, liver or other problems. Consult your doctor before using it.

Interactions

A. Drug-Drug Interaction:

Before taking ITORIHENZ 150 CAPSULE inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:

  • anti-ulcer drugs (Ex. cimetidine, ranitidine, teprenone and cetraxate) to manage gastric ulcers
  • anticholinergic drugs (Ex. dicyclomine) to manage irritable bowel syndrome

Overdosage:

If you or anyone else accidentally use too much of ITORIHENZ 150 CAPSULE, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.
