Introduction About ZINOX 200MG TABLET

ZINOX 200MG TABLET contains Garenoxacin which belongs to the group of medicines called Quinolone Antibiotics. It is used in the management of bacterial respiratory infections such as sinusitis (nasal passage infection), laryngitis (voice box infection), tonsillitis, otitis media (middle ear infection).

It is also used to manage acute bronchitis (lung infection), pneumonia (infection or inflammation of the lungs caused by bacteria), pharyngitis (throat infection) and secondary infection in chronic respiratory lesion.

Before taking ZINOX 200MG TABLET inform your doctor if you are having any convulsive disorders such as seizures (fits), low blood pressure, diabetes, myasthenia gravis (muscle weakness), heart disease (arrhythmia, aortic aneurysm or aortic dissection) or history of Marfan syndrome (genetic disorder).

ZINOX 200MG TABLET should be used with caution in pregnant and breastfeeding women. It should be used with caution in elderly patients. The most common side-effects of ZINOX 200MG TABLET are diarrhoea, headache and nausea. Consult your doctor if any of this symptom bothers you.

How ZINOX 200MG TABLET Works

ZINOX 200MG TABLET manages the body from various bacterial infections by inhibiting the action of a bacterial enzyme called DNA gyrase. It also interferes with the bacterial cell division and reproduction thereby killing the bacteria.

How to use ZINOX 200MG TABLET

Take ZINOX 200MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

Side Effects Of ZINOX 200MG TABLET

Common

  • diarrhoea
  • nausea
  • headache

Rare

Stop taking ZINOX 200MG TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

  • shortness of breath, decreased blood pressure, edema and redness (shock, anaphylaxis)
  • fever, hyperemia of the mucous membrane of the eyeball, skin symptoms (erythema, blisters, erosion) (Toxic epidermal necrolysis, mucocutaneous ocular syndrome, erythema multiforme)
  • palpitations, pulse jumps, discomfort in the chest (QT prolongation, ventricular tachycardia (including Torsades de Pointes), ventricular fibrillation)
  • sweating, hunger, trembling in the limbs (hypoglycemia)

How To Manage Side Effects

Nausea:

Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oil rich or spicy foods. Consult your doctor if symptom does not improve.

Diarrhoea:

Drink lots of fluids, such as water or fruit juice to keep yourself hydrated. Do not consume any medicine on your own without consulting your doctor. Consult your doctor if symptom does not improve.

Headache:

Use a cold pack or hot pads to reduce the pressure on your head. Reduce looking into bright light and try to get adequate sleep. Consult your doctor if symptom does not improve.

Do not drive or use machines while taking ZINOX 200MG TABLET as you may have impaired consciousness.

Allergy
