Introduction About RIPATEC EYE DROPS

RIPATEC EYE DROPS contains Ripasudil which belongs to the group of medicines called Rho kinase inhibitors. It is used to decrease elevated intraocular pressure in patients with ocular hypertension or open-angle glaucoma as adjunctive therapy in patients who are not responding to prostaglandin analogues or topical beta-blockers or used alone in patients who are not responsive or contraindicated to other intraocular pressure lowering medications.

Glaucoma is an ocular disorder that causes gradually loss of eye sight due to increase in internal eye pressure.

Before using RIPATEC EYE DROPS inform your doctor if you have acute primary angle-closure glaucoma (an eye disorder due to increase in internal pressure). Contact your doctor before using.

The safety of RIPATEC EYE DROPS has not been established in pregnant women. Contact your doctor before using. RIPATEC EYE DROPS is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it may pass through the breast milk. Contact your doctor before using.

Safety of RIPATEC EYE DROPS have not been established in low-birth-weight infants, new born’s and children. Contact your doctor before using.

The most common side effects of using RIPATEC EYE DROPS are conjunctival hyperaemia (dilation and redness of eye), conjunctivitis (eye inflammation), blepharitis (inflammation of eye lids) and eye irritation. Contact your physician if the above side effects worsen.

How RIPATEC EYE DROPS Works

RIPATEC EYE DROPS promotes the outflow of aqueous humor from the eye into the systemic circulation. This decreases the increased fluid pressure in the eyes.

How to use RIPATEC EYE DROPS

Always use as directed by your physician. Instil RIPATEC EYE DROPS into the affected eye as advised by your physician. It is for ophthalmic use only. Your doctor will prescribe the right dose depends on your age, body weight and severity of the condition.

Overdosage:

If you or anyone else accidentally use too much of RIPATEC EYE DROPS, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. If overdose with the medicine occurs, management should be symptomatic and supportive.

RIPATEC EYE DROPS works by inhibiting Rho Kinase and induce changes in the trabecular meshwork of the eye and eventually results in increased outflow of aqueous fluid. Thus, decreasing intraocular pressure.

Can I wear contact lens while using RIPATEC EYE DROPS?

No, RIPATEC EYE DROPS has not been studied in patients wearing contact lenses. The preservative in RIPATEC EYE DROPS benzalkonium chloride may be adsorbed by the soft contact lens so remove the contact lenses prior to the application of RIPATEC EYE DROPS and reinsert after 15 minutes of the last dose.

How to use RIPATEC EYE DROPS?

Tilt the head backwards, open the affected eye, instil the drug into the conjunctival sac and close the eyelid for 1 to 5 minutes while compressing the lacrimal part, and open the eye. Avoid direct contact of the tip of the container with the eye in order to manage contamination of the medicine.

What RIPATEC EYE DROPS is used for?

RIPATEC EYE DROPS is used to decrease elevated intraocular pressure in patients with ocular hypertension or open-angle glaucoma as adjunctive therapy in patients who are insufficiently responsive to topical beta-blockers or prostaglandin analogues, or as monotherapy in patients who are intolerant or contraindicated to other intraocular pressure lowering medications.
