Introduction About PACROMA XL CREAM

PACROMA XL CREAM is used to manage atopic dermatitis (inflammation of the skin). It is also used to manage signs and symptoms of mild or moderate eczema (e.g. redness and itch) in children aged 3 months to 17 years and adults. PACROMA XL CREAM contains Pimecrolimus which belongs to the group of medicines called Non-steroidal immunosuppressant which works in the cells in the skin that cause the inflammation and characteristic redness and itching of eczema.

PACROMA XL CREAM is not recommended for use in other skin conditions and skin affected by an active viral infection such as cold sores (herpes simplex) or chicken pox. Avoid exposure to sunlight while using PACROMA XL CREAM. This medicine is generally not recommended for use among pregnant and breastfeeding women.

The most common side effects of using PACROMA XL CREAM are feeling of warmth and burning sensation at the application site, irritation, itching, and reddening of the skin where the cream has been applied and skin infections (folliculitis). Consult your doctor if any of the side effect worsens.

How PACROMA XL CREAM Works

PACROMA XL CREAM contains Pimecrolimus which is a calcineurin inhibitor works by blocking calcineurin (a protein in our bodies that helps to activate the immune system). By blocking the immune response it lessens the inflammation which is caused by eczema.

How to use PACROMA XL CREAM

Always apply PACROMA XL CREAM as directed by your physician. It is for external use only. Wash and dry your hands before applying. Apply a thin layer of PACROMA XL CREAM to the affected area and rub it gently and fully. Avoid applying this medicine around nose, eyes or mouth. Do not cover the manageed areas of skin with dressings, bandages, and wraps. Do not bath or shower right after applying the cream as this could wash your cream off.

Side Effects Of PACROMA XL CREAM

Common

  • warm feeling at the application site
  • discomfort, burning sensation, stinging, soreness, irritation, itching or reddening of the skin (of the particular area where the medicine is applied)
  • skin infections (folliculitis)

Uncommon

  • skin infections (such as impetigo, cold sores, shingles, herpes simplex dermatitis, molluscum contagiosum, warts and furuncles
  • rash, pain, prickling sensation, slight scaling of the skin, dryness, swelling and worsening of eczema symptoms (application site reactions)

Rare

  • changes in skin color (darker or lighter than the surrounding skin)

Stop applying PACROMA XL CREAM and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

  • angioedema (hives, itching, red marks on the hands, feet and throat, swelling of the throat and tongue, swelling around the eyes and lips and difficulty breathing and swallowing)

  • erythroderma (redness in almost the entire body) or a skin condition called netherton syndrome
  • skin malignancies (tumors) or swollen lymph nodes

Interactions

A. Drug-Drug interactions:

Before applying PACROMA XL CREAM, inform your doctor if you are taking or applying any of the following medicines:

  • Immunomodulators (Ex. azathioprine or cyclosporin)
  • Antibiotics (Ex. erythromycin)
  • Anti-fungal agents (Ex. itraconazole, ketoconazole, fluconazole)
  • Calcium channel blockers (Ex. diltiazem, nifedipine)
  • H2 blockers (Ex. Cimetidine)

Overdosage:

If you or anyone else applied too much of PACROMA XL CREAM or accidentally swallowed the medicine, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.
