Introduction About LOSIUM CT TABLET

LOSIUM CT TABLET is a combination of Chlorthalidone and Losartan which belongs to the group of medicines called Antihypertensive drugs. It is used in adults to manage mild to moderate high blood pressure which is not adequately controlled by monotherapy.

High blood pressure (also known as hypertension) is a medical condition in which the force of the blood exerted against the walls of the artery remains very high and as a result it may lead to severe damage to the blood vessels supplying several organs, thus causing heart attack, heart or kidney failure, stroke or even blindness.

During the course of the management, your doctor might regularly monitor your blood pressure, kidney function and electrolyte balance to avoid any untoward side effects. Before taking LOSIUM CT TABLET, inform your doctor if you have kidney, liver or heart problems, including diabetes, gout or Adisson’s disease.

LOSIUM CT TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant and breastfeeding women, so consult your doctor before taking it. This medicine is not recommended for use in children (6 years or younger) and those having kidney or liver problems.

The most common side effects of taking LOSIUM CT TABLET are dizziness, loss of appetite, upset stomach, weakness and extreme tiredness. Consult your doctor if any of the side effects worsen.

Uses Of LOSIUM CT TABLET

How LOSIUM CT TABLET Works

LOSIUM CT TABLET effectively reduces elevated blood pressure where losartan acts by blocking the actions of Angiotensin – II (a substance that causes narrowing of blood vessels and increase in blood pressure) at the angiotensin type-I receptors of the vascular smooth muscle and chlorthalidone acts by increasing the urinary excretion of sodium and water by inhibiting sodium-chloride reabsorption in the kidneys, thus leading to a marked decrease in blood pressure.

How to use LOSIUM CT TABLET

Take LOSIUM CT TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of LOSIUM CT TABLET for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
