What LOOZ FIBRE is used for?

It is used to,

  • manage constipation
  • manage acute and chronic portal systemic encephalopathy
  • help maintain normal bowel function in people with haemorrhoids (piles)

Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine, if you:

  • are allergic to Ispaghula and Lactitol or any other ingredients of this medicine
  • have a sudden change in bowel habit that has persisted for more than two weeks
  • are suffering from a blockage of the bowel (intestinal obstruction, faecal impaction)
  • have a weakness of the bowel wall (colonic atony)
  • have naturally occurring reduced gut motility
  • have difficulty in swallowing or any throat problems
  • have phenylketonuria
  • are suffering from an undiagnosed rectal bleeding and unable to pass stools
  • have ileostomy or colostomy
  • If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine
  • LOOZ FIBRE is not recommended in children below 5 years of age

Tell your doctor if you are taking:

  • medicines which may cause constipation (e.g. codeine or morphine)
  • medicines used to manage diabetics (e.g. insulin)
  • medicines for thyroid problems
  • antacids
  • other drugs such as thiazide diuretics, corticosteroids, carbenoxolone, amphotericin B, neomycin
  • Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
  • LOOZ FIBRE is for oral use
  • LOOZ FIBRE should be taken at least 30 mins before or after taking other medicines and should not be taken immediately before going to sleep
  • Take one sachet in the morning and one in the evening, preferably after meals

If you take more LOOZ FIBRE

  • If you take more LOOZ FIBRE, talk to your doctor immediately

If you forget to take LOOZ FIBRE

  • If a dose is missed, do not take a double dose, just carry on with the next recommended dose

If you stop taking LOOZ FIBRE

  • Do not stop taking LOOZ FIBRE without talking to your doctor first

  • red or itchy eyes, runny or blocked nose
  • flatulence or bloating

Lactitol

  • abdominal discomforts such as flatulence, pain, cramps or sensation of fullness
  • nausea
  • anal pruritus
