FUNGIS 100 CAPSULE is used to manage fungal infections in the body. It contains a medicine called Itraconazole which belongs to the group of medicines called Antifungals. It works by stopping the growth of fungus that causes these infections.

Fungal infections, also known as mycosis, is a disease caused by fungus that can affect people of all age groups. People with injuries and a suppressed immune system are more susceptible to fungal infections. 

Patients with kidney or liver problems and heart problems such as heart failure should use FUNGIS 100 CAPSULE with caution. It is not recommended for use in patients when the immune system is not functioning well, or they have acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). 

Do not take any medicine without consulting your doctor while on management with FUNGIS 100 CAPSULE, especially medicines given to manage indigestion or stomach ulcers. If the duration of the management with FUNGIS 100 CAPSULE is more than a month, your doctor will advise you to take some blood tests to monitor your liver function. 

This medicine is not recommended for use in pregnant women unless advised by the doctor, and it is not recommended for use in breast-feeding women. FUNGIS 100 CAPSULE is not recommended for use in children less than 12 years of age; however, your child’s doctor may advise them in special cases. 

FUNGIS 100 CAPSULE is normally not recommended for use in elderly patients; however, your doctor may prescribe them in special cases. The common side effects of taking FUNGIS 100 CAPSULE are stomach pain, nausea, and headache. Consult your doctor if any of the side effects worsen.

How FUNGIS 100 CAPSULE Works

FUNGIS 100 CAPSULE works by managing the fungal growth by blocking the production of enzymes responsible for the growth of fungal cells. This inhibition results in breakage of cell membranes and fungal cell abnormalities, finally leading to alterations in membrane-based activity of fungus. These lead to fungal cell death and management of further fungal growth. 

How to use FUNGIS 100 CAPSULE

• Take this medicine as advised by your physician.
• Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine.
• Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of FUNGIS 100 CAPSULE for you depending upon your age, body weight, and disease condition.

Side Effects Of FUNGIS 100 CAPSULE

Common Side Effects of FUNGIS 100 CAPSULE:

• stomach pain, nausea
• headache

Stop taking FUNGIS 100 CAPSULE and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

• tingling, numbness, and weakness in the limbs
• liver problems (singles include severe lack of appetite, nausea, vomiting, tiredness, stomach pain, muscle weakness, yellowing of skin and eyes (jaundice), dark urine, pale stools, and hair loss)

FUNGIS 100 CAPSULE is not recommended for use in pregnant women unless advised by the doctor. You should use contraception to make sure that you do not become pregnant during management with this medicine.

Breastfeeding

FUNGIS 100 CAPSULE is not recommended for use in breast-feeding women as a small amount of this medicine passes into breast milk.

Driving and Using Machines

Use with Caution

Do not drive or handle heavy machines if you experience dizziness, blurred/double vision, or hearing loss while taking FUNGIS 100 CAPSULE.

Alcohol

Contraindicated

Consumption of alcohol is not recommended during management with FUNGIS 100 CAPSULE.

Kidney

Use with Caution

FUNGIS 100 CAPSULE should be used with caution in patients with kidney problems.

Liver

Use with Caution

FUNGIS 100 CAPSULE should be used with caution in patients with liver problems such as jaundice.

Allergy

Contraindicated

Do not take FUNGIS 100 CAPSULE if you are allergic to itraconazole or any other ingredients of this medicine.

Heart Disease

Use with Caution

FUNGIS 100 CAPSULE should be used with caution in patients with heart problems such as heart failure.

Use In Pediatrics

Contraindicated

FUNGIS 100 CAPSULE is not recommended for use in children less than 12 years of age. However, your child’s doctor may advise them in special cases.

Use In Geriatrics

Contraindicated

FUNGIS 100 CAPSULE is not recommended for use in elderly patients. However, your doctor may prescribe them in special cases.

Interactions

A. Drug-Drug interactions:

Before taking FUNGIS 100 CAPSULE, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:

• medicines used to manage allergies or hay fever, Ex. terfenadine, astemizole, ebastine, mizolastine
• medicines used to lower blood cholesterol levels Ex. atorvastatin, lovastatin, simvastatin
• medicines used to manage irregular heartbeat Ex. quinidine, disopyramide, dronedarone, or dofetilide
• medicines used to manage chest pain and high blood pressure Ex. bepridil, lercanidipine, ivabradine, ranolazine, nisoldipine, aliskiren, nadolol, digoxin, cilostazol dihydropyridines such as amlodipine, felodipine, and verapamil
• medicines used to manage migraine headaches Ex. dihydroergotamine, eletriptan, ergotamine
• medicines used to manage drug abuse Ex. levacetylmethadol and methadone
• medicines used to manage digestive problems Ex. cisapride
• colchicine (used to manage gout)
• medicines used to manage fluid accumulation, Ex. Eplerenone
• medicines used after labour Ex. ergometrine, methylergometrine
• medicine used to manage malaria Ex. halofantrine
• medicines used to manage cancer Ex. irinotecan, bortezomib, busulphan, docetaxel, erlotinib, ixabepilone, trimetrexate, axitinib, dabrafenib, dasatinib, ibrutinib, lapatinib, nilotinib, sunitinib, and trabectedin
• medicines used as blood thinners Ex. dabigatran, ticagrelor, rivaroxaban, warfarin
• medicines used to manage mental illness Ex. quetiapine, pimozide, lurasidone, aripiprazole, haloperidol, perospirone, ramelteon, risperidone, reboxetine, and sertindole
• medicines used to manage urinary bladder disorders Ex. darifenacin, tamsulosin, fesoterodine, imidafenacin, solifenacin, and tolterodine
• medicines used to manage anxiety Ex. midazolam, triazolam, buspirone, alprazolam, brotizolam
• medicines used after an organ transplant Ex. everolimus, ciclesonide, temsirolimus, ciclosporin, tacrolimus, sirolimus
• medicines used to relive pain Ex. fentanyl, alfentanil, buprenorphine, oxycodone
• medicines used to manage inflammation or asthma Ex. salmeterol, methylprednisolone, fluticasone, budesonide, dexamethasone
• medicines used to manage erection problems Ex. vardenafil, sildenafil and tadalafil

• medicines used to manage tuberculosis Ex. rifampicin, rifabutin, or isoniazid
• medicines used to manage epilepsy Ex. phenytoin, carbamazepine, or phenobarbital
• St. John’s Wort (used to manage depression)
• medicines used to manage eczema Ex. alitretinoin
• medicines used to manage vomiting Ex. aprepitant, domperidone
• medicines used to manage excess thyroid hormone secretion Ex. cinacalcet
• medicines used to manage low sodium blood levels Ex. mozavaptan or tolvaptan
• medicines used to manage worms Ex. praziquantel
• medicines used to manage high blood sugar Ex. Repaglinide, saxagliptin
• medicines used to relive inflammation and pain Ex. meloxicam

Overdosage:

If you or anyone else accidentally takes too much of FUNGIS 100 CAPSULE, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.
