Introduction About COMXTIN ORAL SUSPENSION

COMXTIN ORAL SUSPENSION contains colistin, which belongs to the group of medicines called Antibiotics. It is used in infants and in children to manage bacterial infections of the gut (stomach and intestines).

Colistin is a polypeptide antibiotic. It binds to the susceptible bacteria and disrupts the composition (lipids and proteins) of the bacterial cell membrane. As a result, it makes the contents of the bacterial cell leak out, which subsequently leads to bacterial killing. It may also inactivate the toxins produced by the bacteria.

Before starting the therapy with COMXTIN ORAL SUSPENSION, inform your doctor if your child has any kidney problems. Your doctor would prescribe a low dose of colistin to your child and constantly monitor their kidney functions to avoid the risk of side effects. You must also inform your doctor if your child has any inherited blood or muscle disorders before starting the therapy with COMXTIN ORAL SUSPENSION.

Do not give COMXTIN ORAL SUSPENSION to your child if your child is allergic to any of its ingredients. The most common side effects of taking COMXTIN ORAL SUSPENSION are stomach upset, nausea, vomiting, or dizziness. Contact your doctor if any of these side effects worsen in your child.

How COMXTIN ORAL SUSPENSION Works

Measure the medicine using the measuring cup given along with the package and administer it to your child.
