How Phenylephrine+Tropicamide works
Phenylephrine + Tropicamide combination works by dilating the pupils in the eye. Phenylephrine produces dilation effects (mydriasis) by narrowing the blood vessels and muscles present in the eye. Tropicamide blocks the stops the narrowing of the smooth muscles of eye causing dilation of pupil (mydriasis). Thus, both react by producing mydriatic effect necessary for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes.
Common side effects of Phenylephrine+Tropicamide

- sensitive to light, redness, watery eye, increased intraocular pressure, local irritation and oedema
