Labetalol is used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure). It is also used to treat angina (pain in the chest, arms, shoulders or neck caused by effort, stress or cold weather) in patients with high blood pressure.

Labetalol works by relaxing the blood vessels supplying the heart and improves blood flow and oxygen supply within them which helps in reducing chest pain (angina). It also reduces the strain on the heart and helps the heart to pump blood more efficiently with less pressure.
