How Fluphenazine works
Fluphenazine works by blocking certain receptors in the brain, suppressing the release of hypothalamic and hypophyseal hormones that are responsible for abnormal brain activity causing schizophrenia.
Common side effects of Fluphenazine
- dyskinesia (involuntary muscle movements), akathisia (loss of ability to remain still)
- fatigue
- noticeable flattening
- low blood pressure

- inflammation in the mouth and throat, fever and flu like infections
- blood clot in veins enters lungs through bloodstream causing difficulty in breathing and chest pain
