How Enalaprilat works
Enalaprilat is an antihypertensive agent. It works by blocking the actions of an enzyme called angiotensin-converting enzyme, that causes narrowing of blood vessels and increase in blood pressure. This results in widening of blood vessels supplying the various vital organs (such as heart, brain, or kidneys) and makes the heart to pump blood more smoothly with less pressure.
Common side effects of Enalaprilat
- low blood pressure or feeling dizzy while standing up suddenly or changing position
- nausea, vomiting, diarrhea
- headache, dizziness, tiredness
- chest pain
- difficulty in breathing
- skin rashes or itching
- excessive sweating
When to consult your doctor
Consult your doctor:
- In case of accidental overdosage
- If you experience severe allergic reactions (such as skin rash, severe itching of the skin with raised lumps, blisters in the skin, swelling of the face, lips, tongue and/or throat with difficulty in breathing or swallowing)
- If you experience impaired kidney function
- If you experience dizziness, fainting lightheadedness, excessive sweating following an exercise or after regular activities
- If you experience flu-like symptoms such as fever, muscle pain, rashes, itching, stomach pain, diarrhoea, discoloration of eyes, skin and urine

- Take enalaprilat exactly as prescribed by your Doctor. Do not change the dose or stop taking it without consulting your doctor

- Enalaprilat is not recommended for use in pregnant and breast feeding women
- Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking this medicine
