Uses of Ambrisentan+Tadalafil

The combination of Ambrisentan and Tadalafil is used in the management of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) to reduce the risk of disease progression and hospitalization of worsening pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). It is also used to improve exercising ability in affected individuals.

How Ambrisentan+Tadalafil works

Ambrisentan + Tadalafil helps in managing pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) where ambrisentan widens the blood vessels returning blood to the lungs by blocking the action of certain chemical messengers that induce constriction and cell proliferation in the vessels and tadalafil relaxes the muscles of blood vessels around the lungs, thereby improving the blood flow to the lungs and the ability to do physical activity.

• fast or irregular heartbeats
• headache or migraine
• runny or blocked nose, sinusitis (sinus infection), common cold
• abdomen pain, constipation, diarrhoea
• flushing
• chest pain/discomfort
• increased or abnormal uterine bleeding
• indigestion, acid reflux, cough
• ringing in the ears
• dizziness
• worsening of shortness of breath
• nausea, vomiting
• tiredness, weakness
• disturbed or blurry vision
• fainting
• nose bleeding
• rashes
• back pain, muscle aches
• pain in the legs and arms

When to consult your doctor

Consult your doctor:

• In case of accidental overdosage
• If you experience swelling (oedema) particularly in ankles or/and feet
• If you experience signs of anaemia (reduced number of red blood cells) causing tiredness, weakness, shortness of breath, and feeling of being unwell
• If you experience low blood pressure
• If you experience signs of allergic reactions such as rash, itching or swelling (particularly on face, lips, tongue or throat resulting difficulty in breathing or swallowing)
• If you experience sudden vision loss in one or both eyes
• If you experience priapism (prolonged and painful penile erection)
• If you experience sudden decrease or loss of hearing
• If you experience signs of liver dysfunction (such as loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, fever, pain in your stomach, yellowing of your skin or the whites of your eyes (jaundice), dark-coloured urine, itchy skin)
• If you develop signs of pulmonary veno-occlusive disease (condition that occurs due to blockade of blood vessels to heart) such as shortness of breath, dry cough, weakness on exertion

Health Tips for Ambrisentan+Tadalafil

• Take Ambrisentan + Tadalafil exactly as directed by your doctor. Follow the specified dosage and regimen. Do not change the dosage or discontinue the medicine without first consulting your doctor   
• Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking Ambrisentan + Tadalafil since it may enhance the blood pressure lowering effects and affect your ability to get an erection
• Avoid drinking grapefruit juice while taking Ambrisentan + Tadalafil as it may lower the effect of the medicine
• Do not drive or operate any machines while taking Ambrisentan + Tadalafil since it may cause low blood pressure, dizziness, tiredness and weakness
• Ambrisentan + Tadalafil is not recommended for use during pregnancy and in women with childbearing potential who are not using reliable contraception and not recommended for use in breastfeeding women
• It is not recommended for use in individuals with severe kidney impairment, moderate to severe liver impairment, lung problems such as idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (scarring of lung tissue), serious heart diseases or who had a heart attack within the last 90 days, stroke within the last 6 months and low or uncontrolled high blood pressure
