Acebrophylline works by relaxing the muscles of lungs and respiratory tract thereby increasing the capacity of lungs for effective breathing. It is also efficient in clearing the mucous secretion by lowering the thickness of mucous. It also acts as an anti-inflammatory agent by blocking the release of certain substances which are responsible in causing inflammation and swelling of airways.
