How Acarbose+Metformin works

Acarbose is a glucosidase inhibitor. It is used to manage non-insulin-dependent diabetes. Metformin belongs to a class of medicine called biguanides. Metformin reduces the amount of sugar that the liver releases into the blood and gives a better response to insulin. This is the major action responsible for lowering blood glucose levels. Acarbose works by inhibiting the action of enzymes involved in the digestion of carbohydrates and sugars, thereby delaying the digestion of carbohydrates complex (sugars) and lowering blood sugar levels.
