INTRODUCTION

VENOSUF contains Calcium dobesilate which belongs to the group of medicines called Vasoprotective agents. It is used to manage microangiopathies such as diabetic retinopathy, hemorrhoidal syndrome (condition of inflamed and swollen blood vessels in rectum or around anus), chronic venous insufficiency/vascular dysfunction (condition of leg veins in which blood gets pooled in the legs due to failure of valves present in leg veins presenting with pain, cramps, and inactivity of legs) and adjuvant to superficial thrombophlebitis (causing clot in superficial veins) and other microcirculation disorders of arteriovenous origin.

Microangiopathy or microcirculation disorder is a disease of small blood vessels in which walls of those vessels become weak and bleed, resulting in reduced blood flow. In diabetic retinopathy, microangiopathy reduces the blood flow to retina, causing floaters (dark spots in the vision), blurred vision or even blindness.

VENOSUF is not recommended for use in patients who are allergic to calcium dobesilate. It should be used with caution in patients with liver diseases such as obstructive jaundice, diabetic retinopathy (eye disorder that occurs due to diabetes), venous disorder such as varicose veins (enlarged veins in legs and feet), and dialysis patients with serious renal failure. VENOSUF is not recommended for use in pregnant and breastfeeding women, also it should be used with caution in children and adolescents (below 18 years of age). Consult your doctor before taking it. The most common side effects associated with the use of VENOSUF are fever, bloating, constipation, diarrhoea, pain, nausea, vomiting and arthralgia (joint pain). Consult your doctor if any of the symptom worsens.

USES OF VENOSUF

  • Manages microangiopathies especially in diabetic retinopathy
  • Manages hemorrhoidal syndrome and chronic venous insufficiency
  • Used as an adjuvant to superficial thrombophlebitis and also manages other microcirculation disorders

HOW VENOSUF WORKS

VENOSUF works by reducing the permeability or leakage in the blood vessels by acting on collagen chains, resulting in strengthening of the vessel walls which also reduces the action of the chemical messengers that increase the permeability of vessel walls, thereby resulting in reduced bleeding in small vessels.
