TRIVON 10MG contains Tranylcypromine which belongs to the group of medicines called Antidepressants. It is used in adults for the management of moderate to severe depression and helps to come out of the fear that may be associated with it. Depression is a mood disorder that causes a persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest in day-to-day activities. Other symptoms of depression include feeling of worthlessness, sleep disturbances, tiredness, anxiety, mood swings, fear to face crowd, crying, loss of appetite, suicidal thoughts, etc. TRIVON 10MG is often used when other types of antidepressant medicines have not worked effectively.
GBNKEYWORD] is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (below 18 years of age) and in patients with severe heart diseases, overactive thyroid glands, kidney tumours, porphyria (hereditary blood disorder), or those who takes other medicines such as monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or have taken within the last two weeks. Before initiating and during management with TRIVON 10MG, your doctor may advice you to undergo few psychiatric assessment tests to understand your mental health status better.
TRIVON 10MG should be used with caution in pregnant and breast-feeding women. Before taking TRIVON 10MG, inform your doctor if you are suffering from mild heart problems, fits, or planning to have any surgery in the upcoming week or have serious mental condition (have or had suicidal tendency or tendency to harm yourself). The common side effects of taking TRIVON 10MG are headache, tiredness, disturbed sleep, dry mouth, constipation and altered vision. Consult your doctor if any of the symptom worsens.

HOW TRIVON 10MG WORKS
TRIVON 10MG is a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOIs) that works by blocking an enzyme called monoamine oxidase, which is responsible for degradation of the chemicals in the brain such as serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine in the central nervous system of the body. DIRECTIONS FOR USE

RARE
- seeing, hearing, and smelling things that are not real (hallucinations)
- itching in hands and feet

Stop taking TRIVON 10MG and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
- thought of suicide (tendency to kill yourself intentionally)
- anxious, very agitated, or irritable behaviour
- low blood pressure and may experience loss of balance on standing up
- restlessness, loss of sleep, confusion, high blood pressure, more sweating, diarrhoea, headache, muscle rigidity, loss of muscle coordination, etc. (symptoms of serotonin syndrome, a life-threatening condition)
- episodes of fits
- sore throat or high fever or become very tired, yellowing of eyes and skin, bleeding from the nose (symptoms of liver problems)
- frequent headache, pain in the neck, feeling tired, chest pain, sweating, pale, enlarged pupils, difficulty to look into bright light
- muscle weakness or paralysis
HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS
Headache:
Drink plenty of fluids and stay hydrated. Avoid consuming alcohol and skipping meals. Try to be relaxed and stress free. Get adequate sleep and rest. Apply a pain-relieving balm on the forehead if necessary. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve.
Dry Mouth:
Try to drink plenty of cold water. Sip on cold unsweetened drinks and use lip balm if your lips are dry. Try to brush your teeth twice a day and use mouthwash. Consult your doctor if the symptom gets worse.
Constipation:
Take fiber rich foods in your diet such as fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grain cereals, and drink plenty of fluids. Exercise more regularly and stay active. Consult your doctor if the symptom gets worse.
Tiredness:
Drink plenty of fluids and eat balanced diet and frequent meals. Do regular minimal exercise and follow regular sleep schedule. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve.
WARNING & PRECAUTIONS
PREGNANCY
TRIVON 10MG is not recommended for use if you are pregnant unless your doctor consider it is clearly necessary. Consult your doctor before taking it.
BREASTFEEDING
TRIVON 10MG is not recommended for use in breast-feeding women unless your doctor consider it is clearly necessary. This medicine may pass into breast milk. Consult your doctor before taking it.
DRIVING AND USING MACHINES
Do not drive or operate any machines while taking TRIVON 10MG as it might cause dizziness or sleepiness or affects your ability to concentrate. Consult your doctor before taking TRIVON 10MG.
ALCOHOL
Avoid consuming alcohol, especially red wine, while taking TRIVON 10MG. Consult your doctor before taking it.
LIVER
TRIVON 10MG is not recommended for use in patients with liver damage. Consult your doctor before taking it.
ALLERGY
Do not take TRIVON 10MG if you are allergic to tranylcypromine.
HEART DISEASE
TRIVON 10MG is not recommended for use in patients with severe heart disease. TRIVON 10MG should be taken with caution in patients with mild heart problem that restricts your activity. Consult your doctor before taking it.
OTHERS
TRIVON 10MG is not recommended for use if you have:
- tumor in the adrenal glands that causes high blood pressure (pheochromocytoma)
- hereditary blood disease affecting the skin and nervous system (porphyria)
- overactive thyroid gland (symptoms include nervousness, anxiety, irritability)
- any disease of blood vessels of the brain
- disorders affecting blood cells
- suicide thoughts or tendency to harm yourself
Before taking TRIVON 10MG inform your doctor if you:
- have fits
- had surgery or planning to have surgery in the next 2 weeks
- have dependence on drugs or alcohol
- are allergic to any food or medicine
- have diabetes
Use in pediatrics:
TRIVON 10MG is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (under 18 years of age). Consult child’s doctor for advice.
Use in geriatrics:
TRIVON 10MG should be used with caution in elderly patients (aged 65 years and above) Consult your doctor before taking it.
INTERACTIONS
A. Drug – Drug interactions
Before taking TRIVON 10MG inform your doctor if you have received or taken or taking any of the following medicines:
- medicines used to manage heart problems (Ex. adrenaline, noradrenaline, dopamine)
- medicines used to manage asthma (Ex. ephedrine, pseudoephedrine)
- medicine used to stop smoking (Ex. bupropion)
- medicine used to manage parkinson’s disease (Ex. levodopa)
- medicines used to control hunger (Ex. amphetamine, fenfluramine)
- medicines used to relieve pain (Ex. nefopam, pethidine, codeine)
- medicine used for sedation in surgery (Ex. propofol)
- medicines used to manage depression (Ex. amitriptyline, imipramine, tryptophan, isocarboxazid, sertraline)
- medicine used to manage anxiety (Ex. buspirone)
- metrizamide (used as radiocontrast agent)
- medicine used to manage fits (Ex. carbamazepine)
- medicine to manage sleeping problems (Ex. amylobarbitone)
- medicines to manage diabetes (Ex. insulin, metformin)
- medicine used to manage allergy (Ex. cetirizine)
- medicines used to manage hypertension (Ex. reserpine, methyldopa)
- natural health products or OTC supplements containing tyramine
B. Drug- Food interactions:
Avoid eating foods (such as processed and matured cheeses (Ex. cheddar cheese), yeast extracts (Ex. marmite, bovril), meat, fish and poultry which are not fresh or has been pickled, broad bean pods, most soybean products (including soy sauce and tofu), sauerkraut, banana skins and chocolate) while taking TRIVON 10MG as it may increase the risk of developing high blood pressure.
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of TRIVON 10MG, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdose includes mental confusion with reduced awareness of surroundings (delirium) and low platelet levels in the blood (thrombocytopenia), increased heartbeat, sweating, fever, restlessness, and excitement. Tremors, depression, and coma may also be present or develop. Blood pressure may increase, but it also could drop lower than normal.
