Introduction About TONACT PLUS TABLET

TONACT PLUS TABLET is a combination of Atorvastatin and Nicotinic acid which belongs to the group of medicines called Hypolipidemic agents. It is used to manage raised cholesterol levels in the body.

Cholesterol is a waxy substance found in the blood, the body needs cholesterol to build healthy cells, but high levels of cholesterol can increase risk of heart disease and fatty deposits in the blood vessels.

Your doctor might want you to make certain lifestyle changes like low-fat diet, exercise, stopping smoking and alcohol.

Prior to the management your doctor might want to take certain blood tests to understand your existing condition.

Avoid consumption of grapefruit juice or alcohol while taking this medicine as it may lead to unwanted interactions.

Before taking TONACT PLUS TABLET inform your doctor if you have muscle aches or weakness, diabetes, seizures, low blood pressure, any surgery, thyroid, liver or kidney disease.

TONACT PLUS TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant and breastfeeding women. Consult your doctor for advice.

How TONACT PLUS TABLET Works

TONACT PLUS TABLET works by reducing bad cholesterol (LDL) and triglycerides levels and reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke. Atorvastatin works by slowing the production of cholesterol in the body to decrease the amount of cholesterol that may build up on the walls of the arteries and block blood flow to the heart, brain, and other parts of the body. Nicotinic acid works by decreasing the catabolism of HDL (good cholesterol) in the liver and increase their concentration in the blood.

How to use TONACT PLUS TABLET

Take TONACT PLUS TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the right dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

Stomach pain:

Headache:

  • blood thinner (Ex. warfarin)
  • anti-hypertensive drugs (Ex. verapamil, diltiazem)

B. Drug - Food interaction:

Avoid consumption of grape juice while taking this medicine as it may cause unwanted side effects.

Overdosage:

If you or anyone else accidentally took too much of TONACT PLUS TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.
