Introduction About TAMBAC DT

TAMBAC DT is used to manage infections caused by bacteria such as otitis media (inflammation of middle ear leading to pain and fever), tonsilitis (sore throat, difficulty swallowing and tender lymph nodes), chronic bronchitis (inflammation of the airways present in the lungs leading to cough with mucus), community acquired pneumonia (inflammation of lungs leading to congestion), gonorrhea (sexually transmitted infection in rectum, cervix or vagina), skin structure infections (rashes, swelling, redness, pain, pus, and itching), maxillary sinusitis (inflammation around the nasal cavity leading to headache and runny nose) and cystitis (strong, persistent urge to urinate with burning sensation and blood in the urine).

It contains a medicine called Cefpodoxime, which belongs to the group of medicines called Antibiotics. It works by stopping the growth of the bacteria that causes the infections.

TAMBAC DT should be avoided if you are allergic to cefpodoxime or to the cephalosporin group of antibiotics (such as cefuroxime, cefixime) or if you have experienced an immediate or severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) to penicillin or other beta-lactam antibiotics (such as ampicillin).

Before taking TAMBAC DT, inform your doctor if you have or ever had colitis, liver problems, or impaired kidney function. Your doctor may monitor your blood count and liver enzymes through blood tests while taking this medicine.

TAMBAC DT should be used with caution in pregnant women unless clearly advised by the doctor, and it is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women.
