Introduction About TAGAMOX EO EYE OINTMENT
TAGAMOX EO EYE OINTMENT contains Moxifloxacin which belongs to the group of medicines called Antibiotics. It is used for the management of bacterial conjunctivitis. Bacterial conjunctivitis is the infection of the transparent membrane (conjunctiva) that lines the eyelid and covers the white part of your eyeball. Symptoms of bacterial conjunctivitis include pain, discomfort, redness, itching, irritation, and watery eyes.
Patients should be advised not to wear contact lenses if they have signs and symptoms of bacterial conjunctivitis. TAGAMOX EO EYE OINTMENT should be used with caution in pregnant women or if you think you may be pregnant and in breastfeeding woman. Consult your doctor before using.
The safety and effectiveness of TAGAMOX EO EYE OINTMENT in infants below 1 year of age have not been established. Consult your doctor for advice before using this medicine.TAGAMOX EO EYE OINTMENT should be used with caution in elderly patients of above 65 years of age. The common side effects are eye pain or irritation. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve.

TAGAMOX EO EYE OINTMENT works by inhibiting the bacterial enzymes DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV which are required for DNA replication and transcription resulting in cell death. This manages the bacterial cells from dividing and repairing and destroys them.
How to use TAGAMOX EO EYE OINTMENT
Apply TAGAMOX EO EYE OINTMENT as advised by your physician. It is for topical ophthalmic use only. Your doctor will prescribe the right dose depends on your age, body weight and severity of the infection.
Side Effects Of TAGAMOX EO EYE OINTMENT
Common
- decreased visual acuity
- dry eyes
- keratitis (inflammation of cornea)
- redness, eye pain and itching
- bright red patch
- tearing
- fever
- increased cough
- ear infection
- throat pain, sore throat, difficulty in swallowing
- rash
- rhinitis (runny nose)
Uncommon
- headache
- signs of blepharitis like red, itchy eyelids
- eye swelling
- altered taste sensation
Rare
- anemia
- numbness
- signs of erythema of eyelid endophthalmitis such as sever eye pain, extreme sensitivity to light
- signs of corneal problems (Ex. ulcerative keratitis, corneal erosion, corneal abrasion, corneal opacity, corneal infiltrates) include red, teary eyes with pain and pus discharge
- signs of increased intraocular pressure like severe headache and vomiting
- nasal discomfort, throat pain, sensation of foreign body in throat
- vomiting

How To Manage Side Effects
Eye irritation Or Itching
Close your eyes and relax for some time. Place an ice pack over the eyes for few minutes. Avoid watching mobile phone, system, laptop, or any other light sources which might irritate your eyes. If the symptom persists or worsens, contact your doctor.
Headache
Apply hot or cold-water bag on your head. Try to take rest in a quiet and dark room. Drink tea or coffee. Massage on scalp or head with mild pressure. Consult your doctor for advice.
Nausea And Vomiting
Stick to simple meals. Try to Avoid oil rich or spicy foods, sugary snacks, and drinks. Try to drink liquid slowly along with your meals, or in between meals. Consult your doctor if your symptom is not improving.
Visual Disturbances
This happens immediately after putting the medicine and is usually temporary. Wait until your vision becomes clear before you start doing normal works.
