Introduction About SULBACIN TABLET
SULBACIN TABLET is a combination of Ampicillin and Sulbactum which belongs to the group of medicines called Antibiotics. It is used in the management of intra-abdominal infections, gynaecological infections, respiratory tract infections (Ex. sinusitis, otitis media, tonsillitis, pneumonias and bronchitis, urinary tract infections, pyelonephritis, skin and soft tissue infections, bone and joint infections and gonorrhoea and surgical prophylaxis.
SULBACIN TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with rare hereditary problems such as galactose intolerance, the Lapp-lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption. Contact your doctor before taking.
Before taking SULBACIN TABLET inform your doctor if you have liver or kidney disease. SULBACIN TABLET is generally not recommended for use in pregnant women unless clearly necessary. Contact your doctor before taking.
SULBACIN TABLET is generally not recommended for use in breast feeding women as it may pass through the breast milk. Contact your doctor before taking.
SULBACIN TABLET should be used with caution in children. Contact our doctor before taking.

The most common side effects of this medicine are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, headache, rash and itching. Contact your doctor if any of the side effects worsen.
Uses Of SULBACIN TABLET
It is used to manage bacterial infections such as:
- intra-abdominal infections, gynaecological infections
- upper respiratory tract infections including sinusitis, otitis media and tonsillitis, lower respiratory tract infections including bacterial pneumonias and bronchitis
- skin and soft tissue infections
- bone and joint infections
- urinary tract infections, pyelonephritis
- gonorrhoea and
- surgical prophylaxis
How SULBACIN TABLET Works
SULBACIN TABLET helps to manage bacterial infections, where Ampicillin works by managing the formation of formation of bacterial cell wall and Sulbactam works by binding and inhibiting beta-lactamase (an enzyme that destroys antibiotic activity) produced by bacterial cells and thereby manages the reduction in antibacterial activity.
How to use SULBACIN TABLET
Take this medicine as advised by your physician. Swallow this medicine as whole with a glass of water and do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the right dose depends on your age, body weight and disease condition.
Side Effects Of SULBACIN TABLET
Common
- nausea, vomiting
- diarrhea
- abdominal pain
- headache
- rash, pruritus
Rare
Stop taking and contact your doctor immediately if you experience the following side effects:
- allergic reactions such as anaphylaxis, angioedema, urticaria, dermatitis
- liver dysfunction or jaundice
How To Manage Side Effects
Nausea or Vomiting:
Take this medicine with or just after meals. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily or spicy foods.
Diarrhoea:
Drink lots of fluids, such as water or fruit juices to keep you hydrated. Do not take any medicine on your own for managing diarrhea. Contact your doctor if the symptom did not improve.
Headache:
Rest and relax. Drink plenty of fluids such as water or electrolytes and apply a pain-relieving balm on the head if necessary. Do not consume alcohol. Contact your doctor if the symptom did not improve.
Stomach pain:
Try to rest and relax. Eat small meals but take frequently. Keep a heat pad on your stomach. If the symptom does not improve, contact your doctor.
Skin rash:
Avoid hot showers because hot water can further irritate your skin. Do not scratch the affected area. Use protective clothing when going outdoors. Regularly moisturize your skin. Contact your doctor if the symptoms did not resolve.
Dizziness:
Try to rest and relax. Get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operate any machines while you are feeling dizzy. Do not consume alcohol, as it can aggravate your dizziness. Contact your doctor if the symptom did not improve.

Allergy
Do not take SULBACIN TABLET if you are allergic to Ampicillin, Sulbactum or beta-lactam antibiotics (Ex. penicillins, cephalosporins, carbapenems) or lactose.
Others
SULBACIN TABLET is not recommended for use if you:
- have infectious mononucleosis
- have rare hereditary problems such as galactose intolerance, the Lapp-lactase deficiency and glucose-galactose malabsorption

Interactions
A. Drug-Drug interactions:
Inform your physician if you are taking any of the following medicine:
- allopurinol, probenecid (medicines used to manage gout)
- medicines used to manage bacterial infections (Ex. amikacin, chloramphenicol, erythromycin, sulfonamides, tetracyclines)
- medicines used to manage blood clots (dabigatran, rivaroxaban)
- methotrexate (medicines acting on the immune system)
- medicines used to manage pregnancy (Ex. estrogen containing oral contraceptives)
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of SULBACIN TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdose are convulsions in high doses.
