INTRODUCTION
PROVIRONUM 25MG contains Mesterolone which belongs to the group of medicines called Androgens. It is used to manage potency disturbances, male infertility, and male hypogonadism only. Male hypogonadism is a condition when the body does not produce enough testosterone. Testosterone is essential for the development and maintenance of the male reproductive organs as well as other male characteristics such as hair growth, deep voice, sexual drive, muscle mass and body fat distribution. It is for use in male patients only.
PROVIRONUM 25MG is not recommended for use in patients with prostate cancer, male breast cancer, high blood calcium levels, or porphyria. PROVIRONUM 25MG should be used with caution in patients with kidney or heart disease, prostate disease, diabetes, migraine, fits or seizure disorder, abnormal red blood cells or blood disorder, sleep apnoea, etc. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.
Prior to management with PROVIRONUM 25MG, your doctor may examine your prostate and may advise you to take relevant tests to understand your condition. HOW PROVIRONUM 25MG WORKS

DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Take PROVIRONUM 25MG as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. - allergic reaction symptoms such as shortness of breath, wheezing or difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, lips, tongue or other parts of the body, rash, itching or hives on the skin
- enlarged prostate symptoms such as changes in urination, blood in the urine or semen
- unwanted, frequent, or prolonged and painful erections
- severe stomach pain or tenderness
- feeling unwell
- prolonged stomach pain, blood in the stools or vomit, or yellowish discolouration of the skin and the eyes
HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS
Headache:
Rest and relax. Drink plenty of fluids such as water and electrolytes. Apply a pain-relieving balm on the forehead if necessary. Do not consume alcohol. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve.

BREASTFEEDING

KIDNEY

LIVER
PROVIRONUM 25MG is not recommended for use in patients with previous or existing liver tumours and should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Consult your doctor before taking PROVIRONUM 25MG.
ALLERGY
Do not take PROVIRONUM 25MG if you are allergic to Mesterolone or any other ingredients of this medicine.
HEART DISEASE
PROVIRONUM 25MG should be used with caution in patients with heart disease. Consult your doctor before taking PROVIRONUM 25MG.
OTHERS
PROVIRONUM 25MG is not recommended for use if you have:
- prostate cancer
- male breast cancer
- high blood calcium levels
- porphyria
Before taking PROVIRONUM 25MG, inform your doctor if you have:
- prostate disease
- blood vessel disease
- high blood pressure
- difficulty in passing urine
- migraine
- epilepsy
- diabetes
- sleep apnoea (sleep disorder in which breathing repeatedly stops and starts)
- polycythaemia (blood disorder causing high concentration of red blood cells in your blood)
- porphyria (rare metabolising disorder)
Use in paediatrics:
PROVIRONUM 25MG is not recommended for use in children. Consult your doctor for advice.
Use in geriatrics:
PROVIRONUM 25MG should be used with caution in elderly patients (aged 65 years or above). Consult your doctor before taking PROVIRONUM 25MG.
INTERACTIONS
A. Drug-Drug interactions:
Before taking PROVIRONUM 25MG, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:
- phenobarbital and phenytoin (used to manage seizures)
- cyclosporine (used to suppress the immune system)
- antidiabetics such as metformin, glimepiride or voglibose (used to manage diabetes mellitus)
- thyroxine (used to manage and replace low thyroid levels)
- oral anticoagulants such as warfarin (used to manage or prevent blood clots)
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of PROVIRONUM 25MG, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdosage are liver abnormalities, tumours, changes in blood lipids, increased risk of heart disease, reduced glucose tolerance, decreased testosterone levels, enlargement of male breast tissue, stunted growth, psychiatric disturbances, acute withdrawal syndrome, vomiting blood or blood in stools and tendon damage.
