INTRODUCTION
POLY B 500000IU contains Polymyxin B which belongs to the group of medicines called Antibiotics. It is used to manage certain forms of serious bacterial infections when other antibiotics are not suitable. It is used to manage infections of the urinary tract (Ex. urinary tract infections), brain (Ex. meningeal infections) or blood (Ex. bacteremia) caused by susceptible gram-negative bacteria such as Aerobacter aerogenes, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae or Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
Polymyxin B is a polypeptide antibiotic. It binds to the susceptible bacteria and disrupts the composition (lipids and protein) of the bacterial cell membrane. As a result, it makes the contents of the bacterial cell to leak out which subsequently leads to bacterial killing. It may also inactivate the toxins produced by the bacteria.
POLY B 500000IU should be used only under constant medical supervision. It is very important to complete the full course of therapy with POLY B 500000IU to achieve the maximum benefits. HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS
Skin rash:
Avoid taking hot showers, as it may further irritate your skin. Use protective clothes while going outdoors. Avoid scratching the affected area of the skin. Regularly moisturize your skin. Consult your doctor if your condition worsens.
Pain, inflammation or swelling at the site of injection:
Place an ice pack on the injected site. Do not move the affected area frequently. If the symptom worsens, consult your doctor.
Fever:

Diarrhea:
