POLO 250 SUSPENSION contains Paracetamol which belongs to the group of medicines called Analgesics and Antipyretics. It is used to relieve mild to moderate pain like headache, migraine, nerve pain, toothache, sore throat, period pains, teething, immunisation, earache, and general aches and pains. It can also be used to manage fever (high temperature), and symptoms of cold or flu.
Before taking POLO 250 SUSPENSION, inform your doctor if you have liver or kidney problems, fructose intolerance, Gilberts syndrome, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency, hemolytic anaemia, reduced glutathione levels, malnourishment, dehydration or if you weigh less than 50 kg.
POLO 250 SUSPENSION should be used in pregnant women only if considered necessary. Avoid consumption of alcohol during management with POLO 250 SUSPENSION, as it might make you more prone to side effects.
POLO 250 SUSPENSION is not recommended for use in children (2-3 months old, weighing less than 4 kg or born before 37 weeks). Contact your doctor if you get any side effects of any of the symptoms get worse.

How POLO 250 SUSPENSION Works
POLO 250 SUSPENSION relieves pain by increasing the pain threshold by inhibiting certain enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2) involved in synthesis of chemicals responsible for inducing pain (prostaglandins). It reduces fever by directly acting on heat-regulating centers in the brain, resulting in vessel relaxation, sweating, and loss of body heat.
How to use POLO 250 SUSPENSION
Take POLO 250 SUSPENSION as advised by your physician. Shake well before use. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you based upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
Side Effects Of POLO 250 SUSPENSION
Common
- skin rash
- blood not clotting well (easy bruising or bleeding)
- nausea, vomiting, constipation
- itching, agitation
Rare
- a severe drop in the number of white blood cells (you become more prone to infections)
- shortness of breath

- serious skin reactions (skin reddening, blisters, rash)

Constipation

Nausea And Vomiting
Take POLO 250 SUSPENSION with, or just after meals. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily or spicy foods. If you still feel nauseous and vomiting, contact your doctor.

- have haemolytic anaemia (decreased red blood cells which can make the skin pale yellow and cause weakness or breathlessness)
- have reduced glutathione levels
- are dehydrated or weigh less than 50 kg

A. Drug-Drug interactions:

- medicines used to induce sleep (Ex. phenobarbital, pentobarbital)
- medicines used in depression (Ex. amitriptyline, nortriptyline)
- cholestyramine (used to control blood fat levels)
- warfarin (used for managing blood clots)
- zidovudine (used to manage HIV infection)
- other medicines containing paracetamol
- medicines to manage nausea and vomiting (Ex. metoclopramide, domperidone)
- medicines used to manage fits (Ex. carbamazepine, phenytoin)
- medicines used to manage pregnancy (Ex. ethinyl estradiol, norethindrone)
- medicines used to manage bacterial infections (Ex. flucloxacillin, chloramphenicol)
