Introduction About PIODIN 5% OINTMENT

Piodin 5% Ointment is a topical antiseptic which is used to manage common skin conditions like infections of the skin around nails and to manage infections in minor burns, cuts and abrasions. It contains povidone-iodine as an active ingredient which acts against a wide variety of pathogens.

Povidone-iodine works by penetrating the cell wall of microbes by disrupting their proteins and nucleic acid structure and synthesis. Thus, it deactivates the function of microbes, manages infection and helps for faster healing.

Do not use Piodin 5% Ointment on extensive burn areas and to large areas of the skin unless strictly indicated. Do not use if you have a kidney or thyroid problem, or during lithium or mercury derivatives therapy.
