Introduction About PEGABANYL PLUS TABLET
PEGABANYL PLUS TABLET is a combination of Pregabalin, Methylcobalamin, Folic Acid and Pyridoxine which belongs to the group of medicines called Alpha 2 delta ligand and Vitamin B respectively. PEGABANYL PLUS TABLET is used to manage painful diabetic neuropathy (nerve damage due to uncontrolled or long-standing diabetes) in adults.
PEGABANYL PLUS TABLET should be used with caution in patients with kidney problems, heart failure and fits. Consult your doctor before taking it.
PEGABANYL PLUS TABLET is generally not recommended for use in pregnant and breastfeeding women unless it is considered clearly necessary. Consult your doctor before taking it.
The safety and effectiveness of PEGABANYL PLUS TABLET have not been established. It should be used with caution in elderly patients. Consult your doctor before taking it.
The most common side effect of taking PEGABANYL PLUS TABLET are dizziness, somnolence, dry mouth, blurred vision, weight gain etc. Consult your physician if any of the symptoms worsen.

How PEGABANYL PLUS TABLET Works
PEGABANYL PLUS TABLET is a combination of Pregabalin, Methylcobalamin, Folic Acid and Pyridoxine where Pregabalin is an alpha 2 delta ligand works by decreasing the number of pain signals that are sent out by damaged nerves to the brain. Methyl cobalamin helps to improve nerve conduction and helps in the production of myelin (a substance that protects nerve fibers) and regenerates damaged nerve cells. Folic acid is also a form of vitamin B and is required for normal nerve growth and Pyridoxine affects the certain chemicals in the brain called neurotransmitters which are involved in the transmission of pain. Together, helps to relive painful diabetic neuropathy.
How to use PEGABANYL PLUS TABLET
Take PEGABANYL PLUS TABLET as directed by your physician. It can be taken with or without food. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water and do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the right dose and duration depending on your age, body weight and disease condition. Do not stop taking PEGABANYL PLUS TABLET without informing your physician.
Side Effects Of PEGABANYL PLUS TABLET
Common
- dizziness, somnolence

- weight gain
- thinking abnormally (difficulty with concentration or attention)
- ataxia (impaired coordination), confusion
- weakness
- peripheral oedema (swelling of hands and legs)
Rare
Stop taking PEGABANYL PLUS TABLET and contact your physician immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
- angioedema (symptoms include swelling of the face, mouth (tongue, lips and gums) and neck (throat and larynx)) causing difficulty breathing
- hypersensitivity or allergic reactions (symptoms include skin redness, blisters, hives, rash, shortness of breath and wheezing)
- signs and symptoms of depression, suicidal thoughts or behaviour and/or any unusual changes in mood or behaviour or thoughts about self-harm
- unexplained muscle pain, tenderness or weakness associated with malaise or fever
How To Manage Side Effects

Dizziness Or Drowsiness
Try to rest and relax. Get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operate any machines while you are feeling dizzy. Do not drink alcohol, as it can aggravate your dizziness. Contact your doctor if your dizziness did not improve.

Dry Mouth
Dry mouth can be managed by chewing sugar-free gum or sucking on sugar-free hard candies to stimulate the flow of saliva. Sip water at regular intervals of time. Do not use mouthwashes that contain alcohol because they can be drying. Consult your doctor if the dry mouth gets worse.

Alcohol
Consult your doctorAvoid consumption of alcohol as it worsens neuropathy and also have a negative influence on the success of> management.

Kidney
Use with CautionPEGABANYL PLUS TABLET should be used with caution in patients with kidney problems and may require dose adjustment. Consult your doctor before taking it.

Liver
SafePEGABANYL PLUS TABLET can be used safely in patients with liver disease and no dose adjustment is required for these patients. Consult your doctor before taking it.

Allergy
ContraindicatedDo not take PEGABANYL PLUS TABLET if you are allergic to Pregabalin, Methylcobalamin, Folic Acid and Pyridoxine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

Heart Disease
Use with CautionPEGABANYL PLUS TABLET should be used with caution in patients with heart failure. Consult your doctor before taking it.

Use In Geriatrics

Before taking PEGABANYL PLUS TABLET, inform your physician if you have:
- history of angioedema
- seizures (fits)
- history of drug abuse
Interactions
A. Drug-Drug interactions:
Before taking PEGABANYL PLUS TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:
- angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (used to manage high blood pressure and heart diseases) (Ex. ramipril, captopril)
- thiazolidinedione (used to manage diabetes mellitus) (Ex. rosiglitazone, pioglitazone)
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of PEGABANYL PLUS TABLET, consult your physician immediately or visit the nearby hospital.

Q: Can I stop taking PEGABANYL PLUS TABLET?
A: Take PEGABANYL PLUS TABLET according to the doctor’s advice. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor tells you to stop. Otherwise it may lead to worsening of symptoms. Your doctor will gradually taper your dose over a minimum of 1 week to minimise the risk of increased seizure frequency in patients with seizure disorder.
Q: Does PEGABANYL PLUS TABLET cause suicidal thoughts?
A: Yes. PEGABANYL PLUS TABLET may increase the risk of suicidal thoughts or behaviour in patients taking these drugs. Consult your doctor immediately if you experience worsening of depression, suicidal thoughts or behaviour and/or any unusual changes in mood or behaviour.
Q: Does PEGABANYL PLUS TABLET cause vision problems?
A: PEGABANYL PLUS TABLET may cause blurred vision, reduction in visual acuity and changes in visual field. Inform your doctor if you experience any visual disturbance after taking this medicine.
Q: Can PEGABANYL PLUS TABLET cause dependence?
A: When PEGABANYL PLUS TABLET is stopped suddenly or rapid discontinuation of this medicine, may cause symptoms like insomnia (sleeplessness), nausea, headache or diarrhoea, anxiety and excessive sweating.
Q: What happens if you miss a dose of PEGABANYL PLUS TABLET?
A: If you forget to take a dose of PEGABANYL PLUS TABLET, take it as soon as you remember. If it is nearly time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and take the next dose at the right time. Do not take the medicine twice to make up for the forgotten dose.
