Introduction About OLYTERB TABLET
OLYTERB TABLET is used to manage fungal infections of the skin, hair and nails. It contains a medicine called Terbinafine which belongs to the group of medicines called Antifungal agents.
Take OLYTERB TABLET for the stipulated duration as instructed by your doctor to achieve better results. Failing to do so may not result in adequate infection control.
Before taking OLYTERB TABLET inform your doctor if you have any liver or kidney problems. You must also inform your doctor if you have psoriasis, skin rashes or any other autoimmune skin conditions (such as systemic lupus erythematosus) as a precaution.
Do not take OLYTERB TABLET without consulting your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. The most common side effects are headache, nausea, loss of appetite, stomach pain, muscle pain, joint pain and taste disturbances. Consult your doctor if any of these side effect worsens.

How OLYTERB TABLET Works
OLYTERB TABLET is an antifungal medication. It effectively controls fungal infections within the body. It disrupts the fungal cell membrane by blocking the production of certain chemicals (ergosterol) within the cell which is required for its survival. As a result, it stops the fungal cell from multiplication, thereby managing the further spread of infection.
How to use OLYTERB TABLET
- Take OLYTERB TABLET as advised by your physician.
- For Tablet: Swallow it with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. But in children younger than 6 years, the medicine should be crushed before swallowing.
- For Dispersible Tablet: Disperse OLYTERB TABLET in the specified quantity of water as advised by your doctor. Consume the mixture immediately after reconstitution.
- Dose and duration will be decided by your doctor depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
Side Effects Of OLYTERB TABLET
Common Side Effects of OLYTERB TABLET:
- headache
- nausea, loss of appetite, stomach pain, indigestion, bloating
- diarrhea
- muscle pain, joint pain
- skin rash, itching and swelling
Stop taking OLYTERB TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
- signs of liver problems (such as unexplained persistent nausea, stomach problems, loss of appetite, unusual tiredness or weakness with yellowing of your skin or eyes, dark urine and pale faeces)
- inflammation of blood vessels causing purple spots under the skin
- inflammation of the pancreas causing severe stomach pain which radiates towards the back side
- signs of muscle breakdown (such as unexplained muscle weakness and dark or red urine)
- signs of low blood count (such as weakness, unusual bleeding, bruising, abnormal pale skin, unusual tiredness, or weakness or breathlessness on exertion or frequent infections)

- Caffeine (a brain stimulant)
- Antidepressants (such as imipramine, nortriptyline, amitriptyline, fluoxetine, paroxetine)
- Heart medicines (such as atenolol propranolol, amiodarone, propafenone, digoxin, quinidine)
- Other antifungal agents (such as ketoconazole, fluconazole)
