Introduction About OFLOWIN OZ TABLET

OFLOWIN OZ TABLET contains Ornidazole, Ofloxacin, and Lactic Acid Bacillus which belongs to the group of medicines called Nitroimidazoles, Fluoroquinolones and Probiotics. OFLOWIN OZ TABLET is used management of various bacterial infections gastrointestinal infections, chest infections, gynaecological infections, dental infections, skin infections and other bacterial and protozoal infections.

OFLOWIN OZ TABLET is not recommended for use in patients suffering from epilepsy (seizures), pre-existing central nervous disorders, tendinitis (inflammation and swelling of tendons of wrist or heel) after management with quinolone antibiotics such as ciprofloxacin, norfloxacin, nadifloxacin etc, glucose-6-phosphate deficiency dehydrogenase deficiency (an inherited condition which can cause haemolytic anaemia).

OFLOWIN OZ TABLET should be used with caution in patients with a history of an aneurysm (bulge or enlargement of large blood vessel), aortic dissection episode (a tear in the wall of the aorta), heart valve regurgitation (leaking of heart valves), connective tissue disorders ex Sjogren syndrome (autoimmune disorder affecting salivary glands, joints and tear glands), Marfan syndrome, Ehlers Danlos syndrome, turner syndrome, vascular disorders such as Takayasu arteritis, giant cell arteritis, Bechet’s disease, high blood pressure, rheumatoid arthritis (inflammation of joints), endocarditis (an infection of the heart), diabetes, low blood sugar, myasthenia gravis (severe muscle weakness), history of heart attack, heart failure, bradycardia( slow heartbeat), salt imbalance in the blood such as low potassium, magnesium levels, if you have or have a family history of prolonged QT interval (irregular heartbeat), heart disorders, liver disorders, kidney disorders, have or ever had a mental illness.

OFLOWIN OZ TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant women. OFLOWIN OZ TABLET is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it is not known whether it passes through breast milk. OFLOWIN OZ TABLET is not recommended for use in children less than 18 years of age. OFLOWIN OZ TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients more than 65 years of age. The most common side effects after taking OFLOWIN OZ TABLET are nausea, rashes, bloating etc. consult your doctor in case your side effects worsen.

OFLOWIN OZ TABLET acts against protozoa and bacteria by destructing the DNA structure and inhibiting protein synthesis and other important cell multiplication processes and hence managing bacterial growth and killing the bacteria. Lactic Acid Bacillus helps in restoring and improving stomach bacterial ecology.

How to use OFLOWIN OZ TABLET

Take OFLOWIN OZ TABLET as advised by your physician. swallow OFLOWIN OZ TABLET as a whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew OFLOWIN OZ TABLET. Your doctor will decide the exact dose and duration of management for you depending on your age, body weight and disease condition.

How To Manage Side Effects

Diarrhea

Drink plenty of water or fruit juices to keep you hydrated. Don’t take any medicine on your own for managing diarrhoea. Contact your doctor if diarrhoea worsens.

Dizziness Or Drowsiness

Try to rest and relax. Get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operating machinery if you feel drowsiness or dizziness. Avoid alcohol consumption as it aggravates dizziness or drowsiness. Contact your doctor if dizziness or drowsiness worsens.

Nausea And Vomiting

Take the medicine, with or just after a meal. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily or spicy food. Contact your doctor if nausea and vomiting worsen.

Skin rash Or Itching

Avoid hot showers because hot water can irritate the skin and does not scratch the affected area. Use sunscreen and protective clothing when going outdoors or use unscented moisturizers to soothe and hydrate the skin however, contact your doctor if itching persists.

Stomach Pain

Try to rest and relax. Eat small meals but take them frequently. Keep a heating pad on your stomach, however, contact your doctor if the stomach pain does not improve.

A. Drug-Drug interactions:

Before taking OFLOWIN OZ TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:

• warfarin (a medicine used for blood thinning to manage clots)
• Muscle relaxant such as vecuronium bromide
• Antiarrhythmics such as quinidine, hydroquinidine, disopyramide, amiodarone, sotalol, dofetilide, ibutilide (a medicine used to manage irregular heartbeat)
• Anti-depressants such as clomipramine, amitriptyline (medicines used for the management of depression)
• Erythromycin, clarithromycin, azithromycin (medicines used to manage bacterial infections)
• Anti-psychotics such as olanzapine, risperidone, clozapine etc (medicines used for the management of bipolar disorder and schizophrenia)
• Dietary supplements and medicines that contain zinc and iron
• Corticosteroids such as betamethasone, dexamethasone (medicines used for the management of inflammatory conditions)
• Sucralfate containing antacids, cimetidine (medicines used for the management of acidity)
• Pain killers such as ibuprofen, diclofenac
• Theophylline (a medicine used for the management of asthma and obstructive pulmonary disease)
• Glipalamide (a medicine used for the management of diabetes)
• Probenecid (a medicine used for the management of gout)
• Furosemide (a medicine used for the management of high blood pressure and kidney disorders)
