Introduction About NEBRACIN OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION

NEBRACIN OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION contains Tobramycin which belongs to the group of antibiotics known as Antibiotics. It is used to manage bacterial infections of the external part of the eye, such as conjunctivitis and ear canal infections.

Bacterial conjunctivitis is the infection of the transparent membrane (conjunctiva) that lines the eyelid and covers the white part of your eyeball. Symptoms of bacterial conjunctivitis include pain, discomfort, redness, itching, irritation, and watering of the eyes. Ear canal infection is the bacterial infection of external ear, which is characterised by ear pain, redness and swelling around the ear canal, discharge of fluid or pus from ear.

Do not wear contact lens if you have any ocular infection while using NEBRACIN OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION. Remove the contact lenses before using NEBRACIN OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION and can put them back after 15 minutes of use.

NEBRACIN OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION should be used with caution in patients who have ever had neuromuscular disorders, such as myasthenia gravis or Parkinson’s disease.

NEBRACIN OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION should be used with caution in pregnant and breastfeeding woman. Consult your doctor before using the medicine.

The safety and effectiveness of NEBRACIN OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION in children under the age of 12 months has not been established. Consult your doctor before using the medicine.

The common side effects of using this medicine are swollen/itchiness in eyelids, eye irritation, redness of eyes, watery eyes. Consult your doctor if the symptom worsens or does not improve.

Uses Of NEBRACIN OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION

It is used to manage:

  • eye infections such as conjunctivitis, blepharitis, pediatric ocular infections, vision affecting eye infections, post eye operation
  • ear canal infections

How NEBRACIN OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION Works

NEBRACIN OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION effectively works against the disease-causing bacteria by binding irreversibly to one of two amino glycoside binding sites on the 30 S ribosomal subunit of bacteria thereby terminating the bacterial growth.

How to use NEBRACIN OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION

Always use NEBRACIN OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION exactly as directed by your physician. It is for external use only. Instill the medicine into the affected eye or ear 1 to 2 times a day or as directed by the physician. Your doctor will prescribe the right dose depends on your age, body weight and disease condition.

Side Effects Of NEBRACIN OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION

Common

  • eye/ear irritation
  • inflammation of the cornea (clear front portion of your eye)
  • swollen/itchiness in eyelids
  • redness of eyes
  • watery eyes (increased tearing)

Rare

Stop using NEBRACIN OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

  • skin rashes
  • swelling of the face, hands, or legs
  • wheezing, difficulty in breathing, shortness of breath
  • severe and sudden appearance of pinkish, itchy swellings on the skin, also called hives or nettle rash

Driving and Using Machines

Do not drive or handle any machines while using this medicine, since it may cause blurred vision or other visual disturbances.

Allergy

Do not use NEBRACIN OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION you are allergic to Tobramycin or to any other ingredients of this medicine.

Others

Before using NEBRACIN OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION, inform your doctor if you:

  • have or ever had neuromuscular disorders, such as myasthenia gravis or Parkinson’s disease

Interactions

A. Drug-Drug interactions:

  • penicillin’s, cephalosporins (medicines used to manage infections of the eye, ear, or the skin)
  • gentamicin, amikacin (medicines used to manage bacterial infections)

Overdosage:

If you or anyone else accidentally use too much of NEBRACIN OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. If accidentally occurs, wash your eyes or ear and rinse it all out with warm water.
