Introduction About MOXIFORD B EYE DROPS

MOXIFORD B EYE DROPS is a combination of Bromfenac and Moxifloxacin which belongs to the group of medicines called Analgesics and Antibiotics respectively. It is used to manage eye inflammation and infection.

It also helps in reducing eye pain, redness, itching and/or burning or stinging sensation following eye surgery (such as cataract or corneal refractive surgery). It is typically used in conditions which involve the risk of both eye inflammation and infection such as during injuries or post-surgery.

MOXIFORD B EYE DROPS should be used only under medical supervision. It is for ophthalmic use only. Use this medicine exactly as instructed by your physician. If there is no improvement in your condition even after using this medicine for 7 days, consult your doctor for advice.

If you wear soft contact lenses, remove the lens before applying MOXIFORD B EYE DROPS and wait for at least 15 minutes before reinsertion.

Before using MOXIFORD B EYE DROPS inform your doctor if you have severe viral or fungal ear/eye infections. You must also inform your doctor if you have been managed with a steroid medicine recently, or have dry eyes, diabetes, stomach ulcers or joint pain as a precaution.

Do not use MOXIFORD B EYE DROPS without consulting your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. The most common side effects of using MOXIFORD B EYE DROPS are mild eye irritation or burning sensation, watery eyes, headache and taste changes. Consult your doctor if any of these side effect worsens.

How MOXIFORD B EYE DROPS Works

MOXIFORD B EYE DROPS contains two medicines namely, Bromfenac and Moxifloxacin. Bromfenac is a pain-relieving medication. It blocks the release of certain chemicals in the body (such as prostaglandins) that causes inflammation, redness and swelling. When applied topically on the eyes, it reduces eye redness, soreness, pain, itching and swelling.

Moxifloxacin is an antibiotic. When applied topically on the eyes, it kills the susceptible bacteria that causes eye infection. Collectively, this medicine reduces inflammation and infection of the eyes.

How to use MOXIFORD B EYE DROPS

Use MOXIFORD B EYE DROPS as advised by your physician. It is for ophthalmic use only. Tilt your head slightly backwards and gently pull your lower eyelid. Instil few drops of this medicine into the eyes and close your eyes for 2 minutes. Repeat the same for the other eye if required. If you wear soft contact lenses, remove the lens before applying MOXIFORD B EYE DROPS and wait for at least 15 minutes before reinsertion.

Wash your hands before and after application. Do not touch the tip of the container with your eyes, eyelids, areas around your eyes, outer surface of the ears or fingers, to avoid contamination. Leave a time gap of at least 5 minutes between this medicine and other eye medicines.

Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending upon your age, body weight and health condition. If there is no improvement in your condition even after using this medicine for 7 days, consult your doctor for advice.

Side Effects Of MOXIFORD B EYE DROPS

Common

  • eye pain, itching, irritation or discomfort

  • severe skin reactions with blistering and peeling of skin
  • severe eye pain, redness, irritation and vision changes
  • pain or swelling of tendons

How To Manage Side Effects

Burning sensation in the eyes:

Wash your eyes with plain cold water. Place an ice pack on your eye to ease the irritation. Avoid straining your eyes by looking at mobile phones, laptops or television. Wear protective eyeglasses while going outdoors.

Headache:  

Rest and relax. Keep yourself hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids such as water or electrolytes. Applying a pain-relieving balm on your forehead can be beneficial. Do not consume excessive alcohol, as it could aggravate your headache. Consult your doctor if your headache worsens.

Blurred vision:

Close your eyes and relax. Do not strain your eyes by looking at mobile phones, laptops, or television. Avoid driving or operating any heavy tools or machines while your vision is blur. Consult your doctor if you experience blurred vision for a prolonged period.

Pregnancy

MOXIFORD B EYE DROPS is not recommended for use in pregnant women unless considered necessary by the physician. Therefore, consult your doctor before using it.

Breastfeeding

MOXIFORD B EYE DROPS should be used with caution in breastfeeding women. Therefore, consult your doctor before using it.

Driving and Using Machines

Do not drive or operate any heavy tools or machinery if you experience blurred vision or light-headedness after using MOXIFORD B EYE DROPS.

Kidney

MOXIFORD B EYE DROPS can be used in patients with kidney problems. However, consult your doctor before using it.

Liver

MOXIFORD B EYE DROPS can be used in patients with liver problems. However, consult your doctor before using it.

Allergy

Do not use MOXIFORD B EYE DROPS if you are allergic to Bromfenac, Moxifloxacin or to any other quinolone antibiotics (such as ciprofloxacin) or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (such as aspirin, ibuprofen, diclofenac).

Lungs

MOXIFORD B EYE DROPS is not recommended for use in patients who previously experienced asthma attacks or nasal itching or inflammation while using any pain-relieving medicine. Therefore, inform your doctor before using it.

Others

Before using MOXIFORD B EYE DROPS inform your doctor if you:

  • wear soft contact lenses
  • have been managed with a steroid medicine recently
  • have a viral or bacterial infection in the eye
  • have stomach ulcers or any conditions that may cause internal bleeding
  • have diabetes
  • have rheumatoid arthritis (joint inflammation)

Use in pediatrics:
