Introduction About MONTEMAC PLUS TABLET
MONTEMAC PLUS TABLET is a combination of Bambuterol and Montelukast which belongs to the group of medicines called Bronchodilators and Leukotriene receptors antagonists respectively. It is indicated for chronic management of asthma, bronchospasm and/or reversible airway obstruction in patients 15 years of age and older.
Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease in which there is difficulty in breathing due to narrowing and swelling of the airways in the lungs.
Before taking MONTEMAC PLUS TABLET, tell your doctor if you are suffering from liver, lung, kidney, heart disease or diabetes.
There are no adequate and well-controlled studies, hence MONTEMAC PLUS TABLET should be used during pregnancy only if clearly required. Consult your doctor for advice.
MONTEMAC PLUS TABLET should be used with caution during breastfeeding. Consult your doctor before taking MONTEMAC PLUS TABLET.
The common side effects are nausea, vomiting, headache, abdominal pain, and diarrhoea. Consult your doctor if any of the above side effects worsen or persists for a longer duration.

How MONTEMAC PLUS TABLET Works
MONTEMAC PLUS TABLET is a combination of Bambuterol and Montelukast. Bambuterol is a bronchodilator which works by relaxing the muscles in the airways and widening the airways. Montelukast is a leukotriene antagonist which works by blocking the action of leukotriene, a chemical messenger. This reduces inflammation in the airways and nose to manage asthma and relieve symptoms of allergies.
How to use MONTEMAC PLUS TABLET
Take as advised by your doctor. Swallow whole do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the right dose depending on your age, body weight and disease condition.

How To Manage Side Effects
Nausea or Vomiting:
Take routine meals and do not eat spicy foods. Drink clear or ice-cold drinks, eat light, bland foods and avoid sweets.
Headache:
Rest and relax. Drink plenty of fluids such as water or electrolytes and apply a pain-relieving balm on the head if necessary. Do not consume alcohol. Contact your doctor if the symptom did not improve.
Diarrhoea:
Drink lots of fluids, such as water or fruit juices to keep you hydrated. Do not take any medicine on your own for managing diarrhoea. Contact your doctor if the symptom did not improve.
Stomach pain:
Try to rest and relax. Eat small meals but take frequently. Keep a heat pad on your stomach. Contact your doctor if the symptom did not improve.

Driving and Using Machines
MONTEMAC PLUS TABLET may affect your ability to drive or use any tools or machines. If you experience drowsiness or difficulty in concentrating while taking this medicine, do not drive or use any machines.
Kidney
MONTEMAC PLUS TABLET should be used with caution in patients with impaired renal function. Consult your doctor for advice.
Liver
MONTEMAC PLUS TABLET should be used with caution in patients with liver diseases (hepatic impairment). Consult your doctor for advice.
Allergy
Do not take MONTEMAC PLUS TABLET if you are allergic to Bambuterol, Montelukast or any ingredients of this medicine.
Lungs
MONTEMAC PLUS TABLET is not recommended for patients with asthmatic attacks. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.
Heart Disease
MONTEMAC PLUS TABLET should be used with caution in patients with severe heart disease (ischaemic heart disease, arrhythmia or severe heart failure). Consult your doctor for advice.

Interactions
A. Drug - Drug interactions:
Inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:
- prednisolone, terfenadine, (used to manage allergies and inflammatory conditions)
- theophylline or aminophylline medicines (used for breathing problems)
- propranolol (used for high blood pressure)
- oral contraceptives
- timolol (used for glaucoma)
- digoxin (used to manage heart conditions)
- warfarin (used to manage blood clots)
- phenytoin (used to manage seizures)
- medicines containing ipratropium
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally took too much of this medicine, consult your doctor immediately or visit a nearby hospital.
