LURACE 80MG contain Lurasidone which belongs to a group of medicine called antipsychotics. It is used to manage symptoms of schizophrenia in adults (aged 18 years and over) and adolescents aged 13-17 years. Schizophrenia is a mental disorder with distortions in thinking, perception and emotions that includes hallucinations (hearing voices or seeing things that are not there) and delusions (fixed, false beliefs). This medicine helps in improving these symptoms of schizophrenia. It works by blocking receptors for neurotransmitters, dopamine and serotonin. By blocking their receptors, this medicine helps to normalise the activity of the brain, reducing the symptoms of schizophrenia.

Always take LURACE 80MG exactly as your doctor has told you. This medicine must be taken with or without food. Before taking this medicine tell your doctor if you have ever had kidney disease, heart disease, liver problems. Do not drive or operate any machine while taking this medicine since it may cause sleepiness, dizziness, and vision problems. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before taking this medicine. The most common side effects are restlessness, sleepiness, parkinsonism, nausea, vomiting, indigestion, dry mouth or excess saliva, abdominal pain, insomnia, agitation, anxiety, weight gain. This medicine strictly not recommended for use in children below 13 years of age.

Sleepiness:

Get up and move around to feel awake. Take a nap to take the edge off the sleepiness. Give your eyes a break to avoid weakness.

Dizziness:

Get up and move around to feel awake, take small naps to edge off the sleepiness. Give your eyes a break to avoid fatigue and eat a healthy food to boost energy.

Nausea and vomiting:

Try taking this medicine with, or just after, a meal or snack and stick to simple meals and do not eat rich or spicy food.

Dry mouth:

Chew sugar-free gum or suck on sugar-free hard candies. control your caffeine intake. Do not use mouthwashes. Sip water regularly.

Abdominal pain:

Keep try to rest and relax. Eat and drink slowly and smaller and frequent meals. Applying a heat pad or covered hot water bottle on your stomach. If still pain persists, speak to your doctor.

• buprenorphine (used to manage opioid dependence)

• anti-depressants such as moclobemide, tranylcypromine, citalopram, escitalopram, fluoxetine, fluvoxamine, paroxetine, sertraline, duloxetine, venlafaxine, amitriptyline, doxepin, or trimipramine (used to manage depression)
• diltiazem and bosentan, verapamil (used to manage high blood pressure)
• erythromycin, nafcillin (used to manage infections)
• fluconazole (used to manage fungal infections)
• amprenavir, efavirenz, etravirine (used to manage HIV infection)
• aprepitant (used to manage nausea and vomiting)
• armodafinil, modafinil (used to manage sleepiness)
