Introduction About LAZID E KIT

LAZID E KIT is a combination of Efavirenz, Lamivudine, Zidovudine which belongs to the group of medicines called Antiretroviral drugs. It is used for the management of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection in adults.

HIV is the Human Immunodeficiency Virus which severely damages the immune system and lead to Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) which is characterized by fever, chills, rash, night sweat, muscle aches, sore throat, fatigue.

LAZID E KIT should be used in caution with patient having liver, kidney and heart disease. Consult your doctor for advice before taking the medicine.

LAZID E KIT should be used with caution in pregnant woman. It is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it may pass through the breastmilk. Consult your doctor for advice before taking the medicine.

LAZID E KIT is not recommended for use in children. Consult your doctor for advice. LAZID E KIT should be used with caution in patients above 65 years of age.

How LAZID E KIT Works

LAZID E KIT contains Efavirenz, Lamivudine, Zidovudine which collectively works against the HIV infection by blocking the action of the reverse transcriptase enzyme, which is essential for the virus to multiply and therefore it reduces the amount of HIV in the body.

How to use LAZID E KIT

Take LAZID E KIT as advised by your physician. Swallow this medicine do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

Side Effects Of LAZID E KIT

Common

  • skin rash
  • abnormal dreams
  • tiredness or malaise
  • fatigue
  • dizziness
  • nausea or vomiting
  • trouble in sleeping, insomnia (lack of sleep)
  • headache
  • fever or chills
  • difficulty concentrating
  • diarrhea
  • anorexia (loss of appetite) or decreased appetite
  • abdominal pain, abdominal cramps
  • dyspepsia (upper abdominal discomfort)

  • nasal signs and symptoms like cough

Rare

Stop taking LAZID E KIT and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

  • signs of lactic acidosis such as feeling of weakness or tiredness, cold, muscle pain, dizziness or light-headedness, breathing problems, fast or irregular heartbeat
  • signs of serious liver problems like yellowing of skin or the white part of eyes (jaundice), nausea (feel sick), dark urine, light coloured stools, abdominal pain
  • worsening of hepatitis B virus (HBV) with signs of fever, joint pain, dark urine
  • signs of serious mental health problems like feeling sad or hopeless, anxiety, restlessness, hallucinations, self-harming thoughts
  • signs of nervous system problems like dizziness, trouble in concentrating and sleeping, unusual dreams, lack of coordination
  • skin rash with or without itching, peeling skin, mouth sores, fever, swelling of your face, red or inflamed eyes, like pink eye (conjunctivitis), blisters or skin lesions
  • anemia
  • seizures (fits)
  • changes in immune system
  • changes in body fat seen as increased amount of fat in the upper back and neck, breast and around the main part of your body
  • risk of inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis)

How To Manage Side Effects

Diarrhoea:

To avoid dehydration in your body, drink plenty of fluids such as water, fruit juices or electrolytes. If the condition worsens, consult your physician immediately.

Nausea or Vomiting:

Take this medicine with or just after meals. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oil rich or spicy foods. Consult your doctor if there is no improvement in symptoms.

Headache:

Apply hot or cold-water bag on your head. Try to take rest in a quiet and dark room. Drink tea or coffee. Massage the scalp or head with mild pressure. Consult your doctor for advice.

Skin rash:

Try to avoid hot showers because it may cause skin irritation. Avoid frequent contact and rubbing over the affected area. Use sunscreen and protective clothing when outdoors. If this symptom does not get better, speak to a doctor.

Pregnancy

LAZID E KIT should be used with caution in pregnant woman or if you are planning to become pregnant. Women should use effective contraception during management with LAZID E KIT and for 12 weeks after discontinuing. Consult your doctor before taking it.

Breastfeeding

LAZID E KIT is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it may pass through the breastmilk. Consult your doctor for advice before taking LAZID E KIT.

Driving and Using Machines

Do not drive or operate any machines if you feel dizziness or trouble in concentrating after taking LAZID E KIT. Consult your doctor before taking LAZID E KIT.

Alcohol

Avoid consumption of alcohol as it may increase the risk of side effects. Consult your doctor for advice.

Kidney

LAZID E KIT should be taken with caution in patients having kidney problems. Consult your doctor before taking LAZID E KIT.

Liver

LAZID E KIT should be taken with caution in patients having liver problems, including hepatitis B or C virus infection. Consult your doctor before taking LAZID E KIT.

Allergy

Do not take LAZID E KIT if you are allergic to Efavirenz, Lamivudine, Zidovudine or any other ingredients of this medicine.

Heart Disease

LAZID E KIT should be taken with caution in patients having heart problems. Consult your doctor before taking LAZID E KIT.

Others

Before taking LAZID E KIT, inform your doctor if you:

  • have diabetes
  • have or ever had a mental health problem
  • have a history of seizures
