 What is HALOX S?
- HALOX S contains two combination drugs called Halobetasol Propionate and Salicylic Acid
- Halobetasol Propionate which belongs to a group of medicine called corticosteroids
- Salicylic acid which belongs to a group of medicine called nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs
What HALOX S is used for?
It is used to,
- manage plaque psoriasis
- manage and remove raised warts (usually found on the hands, elbows or knees) and verrucas (warts on the feet)

Talk to your doctor before using this medicine, if you:
- are allergic to halobetasol propionate or salicylic acid or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
- have had irritation or other skin reaction to a steroid medicine in the past
- have a skin infection
- have diabetes
- have adrenal gland problems
- have liver problems
- plan to have surgery
- have poor blood circulation
- have wart or skin surrounding it is inflamed or broken
- have wart on moles, birthmarks, unusual warts with hair growth on your face or genital region
- have damaged skin such as cuts or grazes
- If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or planning to have baby, ask your doctor for advice before using this medicine
- Do not apply HALOX S to your nipple or areola to avoid getting this medicine into your baby’s mouth
- It is not recommended in children under 18 years of age
- No effects on the ability to drive or use machines have been seen with HALOX S
- Tell your healthcare provider about all the medicines you take, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins and herbal supplements and any other managements on your warts or verrucas at the same time as using HALOX S
- Use HALOX S exactly as your healthcare provider tells you to use it
- Check the tube seal is not broken before first use. Pierce tube seal with end of cap. Apply to the skin only
- Apply a thin layer of HALOX S to the affected skin areas 2 times each day
- Avoid using this medicine on your face, underarms (armpits) or groin areas
- Talk to your healthcare provider if your skin does not improve after 2 weeks of management with this medicine
- Wash your hands after using this medicine unless you are using the medicine to manage your hands
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Halobetasol Propionate:
- cushing’s syndrome, a condition that happens when your body is exposed to too much of the hormone cortisol
- high blood sugar (hyperglycemia)
- vision problems - cataract(s) and glaucoma
- skin reactions at the manageed skin site
- effects on growth and weight in children
Salicylic Acid:
- redness, rash or itching affecting the normal skin around the wart
- skin irritation
- Protect from excess heat and light
- Keep out of reach of children
- Store at room temperature (15-25ºC)
- Do not use this medicine after the expiry date
