Introduction About HALONEXT LOTION

HALONEXT LOTION contains Halobetasol which belongs to the group of medicines called Topical Corticosteroids. HALONEXT LOTION is used in the management of plaque psoriasis in patients.

Plague psoriasis is an autoimmune disease that cause your cells to reproduce very quickly resulting in thick, scaly patches on skin called plaques which is generally characterized by symptoms such as raised, discolored (red, brown, gray or purple) plaques with a white or silvery surface, cracks (fissures), bleeding, itchiness, irritation, and or pain which most commonly occurs on elbow, back, knees, and scalp.

Along with this management, your doctor might advise you to take an ACTH (adrenocorticotropic hormone) stimulation test to evaluate HPA axis suppression (a condition that causes poor body defense against infection) especially in children to manage its effect in the body.

Avoid applying HALONEXT LOTION, if you are allergic to Halobetasol. Before applying HALONEXT LOTION, inform your doctor if you have cataract, kidney, and or liver problems.

HALONEXT LOTION should be used with caution in pregnant and breastfeeding women only if it is necessary. The efficacy and safety of HALONEXT LOTION have not been established in pediatric patients. Consult your doctor before applying HALONEXT LOTION.

The most common side effects of applying HALONEXT LOTION are telangiectasia (small, widened blood vessels on skin), application site atrophy, and headache. Contact your doctor if any of the above side effects worsen.

How HALONEXT LOTION Works

HALONEXT LOTION possesses anti-inflammatory, anti-pruritic and vasoconstrictive properties. It induces phospholipase A2 inhibitory proteins such as lipocortins. The protein inhibits the biosynthesis of pro-inflammatory mediators such as leukotrienes and prostaglandins by inhibiting arachidonic acid, a precursor of pro-inflammatory mediators.

How to use HALONEXT LOTION

Apply HALONEXT LOTION as directed by your doctor. It is for external use only. Apply a thin layer of this medicine to the affected skin twice daily and rub in gently. It should not be used for more than 2 weeks. Consult your doctor for advice.

How To Manage Side Effects

Headache

If HALONEXT LOTION causes headache, then take rest and drink plenty of fluids. Try to avoid drinking alcohol. Ask your doctor to recommend a painkiller. Headaches should usually go away after the first week of taking HALONEXT LOTION. If headache last more than a week or severe, inform your doctor.
