How GLICLAVAC MV TABLET Works
GLICLAVAC MV TABLET works effectively against diabetes, where Gliclazide acts by stimulating the secretion of insulin (a hormone that signals throughout the body to absorb glucose and regulate the blood sugar level) through beta-cell sulphonyl urea receptors. Metformin works by decreasing glucose production in the liver (gluconeogenesis) and increasing insulin sensitivity to absorb glucose. Voglibose inhibits the alpha-glucosidase in the intestine and manages the absorption of glucose from food, thereby reducing the blood sugar level.
How to use GLICLAVAC MV TABLET
Take GLICLAVAC MV TABLET as directed by your physician. Take this medicine with a glass of water before meals. Your doctor will decide the suitable dose and duration depending on your age, body weight, and disease condition.
Side Effects Of GLICLAVAC MV TABLET
Common
- nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, indigestion, constipation
- loss of appetite
- altered taste sensation
- skin rashes, pale skin, redness, itching, and hives
- anemia, fever, or sore throat, or develop bruising or bleeding
- signs of low sodium levels like whole body dizziness, fatigue, lethargy, weakness, or thirst
Stop taking GLICLAVAC MV TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
- allergic reaction like skin rash or angioedema (rapid swelling of tissues such as the eyelids, face, lips, mouth, tongue, or throat that may result in breathing difficulty)
- flu-like symptoms and a rash on the face, then an extended rash with a high temperature, the rash progressing to widespread blistering or peeling of the skin
- symptoms of low blood sugar level (hypoglycemia) such as sweating, clammy skin, trembling, weakness, double vision, palpitations, confusion, headache, hunger, feeling or being sick, sleep disorders, feeling agitated, unable to concentrate, drowsiness, loss of consciousness, slowed reactions, depression, trouble seeing or speaking, paralysis, numbness, dizziness, loss of self-control, sensing or seeing things that are not there, difficulty breathing, slowed or faster heartbeat, chest pains
- hepatitis or liver failure causing fatigue, excessive tiredness, weakness, loss of appetite, weight loss, fever, changes in liver enzymes, and jaundice (yellowing of the skin or whites of the eyes)
- lactic acidosis
How To Manage Side Effects
Diarrhea
To avoid dehydration in your body, drink plenty of fluids, such as water, fruit juices, or electrolytes. If the condition worsens, consult your physician immediately.
Headache
Apply a hot or cold water bag to your head. Try to take a rest in a quiet, dark room. Drink tea or coffee. Massage the scalp or head with mild pressure. Consult your doctor for advice.

Before taking GLICLAVAC MV TABLET, inform your doctor if you:
- have an inherited condition where your red blood cells don’t produce enough of the enzyme G6PD (glucose-6 phosphate dehydrogenase)
- have hormone-induced disorders such as functional disorders of the thyroid gland, pituitary gland, or adrenal cortex
- have low blood sugar (hypoglycaemia)
- have lactic acidosis

A. Drug-Drug interactions:
Before taking GLICLAVAC MV TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:
- medicines used to manage high blood sugar (Ex. glimepiride, liraglutide, or insulin)
- antibiotics (Ex. sulphonamides, clarithromycin)
- medicines to manage high blood pressure, such as beta blockers (Ex. propranolol, atenolol), ACE inhibitors (Ex. captopril), angiotensin-II antagonists (Ex. losartan), nifedipine, and diazoxide
- medicines used to manage infections, such as co-trimoxazole, fluconazole, rifampicin, chloramphenicol, and oral forms of miconazole (sulphonamides such as sulfafurazole or tetracycline compounds, tetracycline, sulfonamides, and clarithromycin)
- medicines used to manage blood clotting (Ex. warfarin)
- medicines used to manage depression, such as monoamine oxidase inhibitors (Ex. moclobemide)
- medicines used to manage mental health problems, such as lithium and phenothiazine derivatives (Ex. prochlorperazine)
- prednisolone, glucocorticoids, and tetracosactrin (medicines used to reduce inflammation in the body)
- medicines used to manage pain like phenylbutazone, azapropazone, and other NSAIDs like ibuprofen, celecoxib, and salicylates like aspirin

Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally used too much of GLICLAVAC MV TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit any nearby hospital. Symptoms of an overdose are low blood sugar, such as sweating, trembling, weakness, double vision, palpitations, confusion, and symptoms of lactic acidosis that are non-specific, such as vomiting, abdominal pain with muscle cramps, a feeling of being unwell with severe tiredness, and difficulty breathing.
