Introduction About GERBISA L SOLUTION

GERBISA L SOLUTION contains Sodium picosulfate which belongs to the group of medicines called Laxatives. It is used for short-term relief of functional constipation. Constipation is defined as fewer than three bowel movements a week, stools that are hard, dry, lumpy, difficult, or painful to pass.

Your doctor might advise you to take a rich fibre diet, have more fluid intake, and do regular exercise. GERBISA L SOLUTION is not recommended for use in patients with severe dehydration, ileus, gastrointestinal obstruction, gastrointestinal ulceration, or perforation.

Avoid the consumption of alcohol during management with this medicine. It is also not recommended if you have appendicitis, acute inflammatory bowel diseases, or severe abdominal pain associated with nausea and vomiting.

GERBISA L SOLUTION should be used with caution in patients with liver disease or epilepsy. It should be used with caution in pregnant and breastfeeding women. GERBISA L SOLUTION is not recommended for use in children under 12 years of age.

GERBISA L SOLUTION should be used with caution in elderly patients. The most common side effects of taking GERBISA L SOLUTION are diarrhoea, abdominal pain, cramps, or discomfort. Do consult your physician if any of the side effects worsen.

GERBISA L SOLUTION works by increasing the mucosa of the large intestine and rectum. Which in turn increases its motility (movement), accumulation of water, hence softening the stool and stimulating defecation (emptying of the bowel).

Take GERBISA L SOLUTION as advised by your doctor. Shake well before use. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of medicine depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition. Do not exceed the recommended dosage.

A. Drug-Drug Interactions:

Before taking GERBISA L SOLUTION, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:

  • diuretics (medicines used to increase urine output) Ex. bendrofluazide, furosemide
  • corticosteroids (medicines used to manage inflammatory conditions) Ex. prednisolone
  • cardiac glycosides (used to manage heart disorders) Ex. digoxin
  • antibiotics (used to manage infections) Ex. amoxicillin

Overdosage:

If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of GERBISA L SOLUTION, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdose are diarrhea, abdominal cramps and a clinically significant loss of potassium and other electrolytes.
