Introduction About GENFOUR DX EYE DROPS

GENFOUR DX EYE DROPS is a combination of Dexamethasone and Moxifloxacin which belongs to the group of medicines called Corticosteroids and Antibiotics respectively. It is used to manage eye inflammation and infection. It also helps in reducing eye pain, redness, itching and/or burning or stinging sensation following eye surgery (such as cataract or corneal refractive surgery). It is typically used in conditions which involves the risk of both eye inflammation and infection such as during injuries or post-surgery.

Use this medicine exactly as instructed by your physician. Misuse or overuse of this medicine may lead to unwanted side effects. If there is no improvement in your condition even after using this medicine for 7 days, consult your doctor for advice. If you wear soft contact lenses, remove the lens before applying GENFOUR DX EYE DROPS and wait for at least 15 minutes before reinsertion.

Before using GENFOUR DX EYE DROPS inform your doctor if you have severe viral or fungal eye infections. You must also inform your doctor if you have glaucoma or any holes or ulcerations in the eyes as a precaution. Do not use GENFOUR DX EYE DROPS without consulting your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. The most common side effects of using GENFOUR DX EYE DROPS are mild eye irritation or burning sensation, watery eyes, increased eye pressure, headache and taste changes. It is used to:

  • reduces eye pain, redness, itching or burning/stinging sensation following eye surgery

How GENFOUR DX EYE DROPS Works

GENFOUR DX EYE DROPS contains two medicines Dexamethasone and Moxifloxacin. Dexamethasone blocks the release of certain chemicals in the body (such as prostaglandins) that causes inflammation, redness and swelling. When applied topically on the eyes, it reduces eye redness, soreness, pain, itching and swelling. Moxifloxacin is an antibiotic. When applied topically on the eyes, it works against the susceptible bacteria that causes eye infection. Collectively, this medicine reduces inflammation and infection of the eyes.

How to use GENFOUR DX EYE DROPS

Use GENFOUR DX EYE DROPS as advised by your physician. It is for ophthalmic use only. Tilt your head slightly backwards and gently pull your lower eyelid. Instill few drops of this medicine into your eyes and close your eyes for 2 minutes. Repeat the same for the other eye if required. If you wear soft contact lenses, remove the lens before applying GENFOUR DX EYE DROPS and wait for at least 15 minutes before reinsertion. Wash your hands before and after application. Do not touch the tip of the container with your eyes, eyelids, areas around your eyes, outer surface of the ears or fingers, to avoid contamination. Leave a time gap of at least 5 minutes between this medicine and other eye medicines. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending upon your age, body weight and health condition. If there is no improvement in your condition even after using this medicine for 7 days, consult your doctor for advice.

Wash your eyes with plain cold water. Place an ice pack on your eye to ease the irritation. Avoid straining your eyes by looking at mobile phones, laptops or television. Wear protective eyeglasses while going outdoors.

Headache

Rest and relax. Keep yourself hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids such as water or electrolytes. Applying a pain-relieving balm on your forehead can be beneficial. Do not consume excessive alcohol, as it could aggravate your headache. Consult your doctor if your headache worsens.

  • medicines used to manage glaucoma (such as timolol, pindolol, acetazolamide, brinzolamide)

Overdosage:

If you or anyone else accidentally used excessive amount of this medicine, rinse your eyes or ears with warm water. If still irritation persists, consult your doctor for advice. If you or anyone else accidentally swallowed this medicine, consult your doctor immediately.
