Introduction About ENAL H 10MG TABLET
ENAL H 10MG TABLET is a combination of Enalapril and Hydrochlorothiazide which belongs to the group of medicines called Antihypertensive agents. It is used in the management of hypertension (high blood pressure). It is typically used in patients who have not responded adequately to therapy with either of the single agents.
Before taking ENAL H 10MG TABLET inform your doctor if you have any lung, liver, kidney or heart problems. You must also inform your doctor if you have diabetes, low blood pressure or severe dehydration as a precaution.
ENAL H 10MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe hypotension or severe kidney problems. It is also not suitable for use in women who are pregnant or breastfeeding due to increased risk of side effects.
During management with ENAL H 10MG TABLET your doctor will constantly monitor your kidney functions, blood pressure, electrolyte levels and blood sugar levels to avoid the risk of unwanted side effects.

- swollen glands in neck, armpit or groin
- fingers and toes become numb and cold (Raynaud’s phenomenon)
Stop taking ENAL H 10MG TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
- eye pain, decrease in vision
- skin lesions
- severe allergic reactions like angioedema (such as rash, swelling of the face, lips, mouth, throat or airways which can lead to difficulty in breathing or swallowing)
- chest pain or tightness
- severe dizziness or feeling faint while standing up suddenly
- inflammation of pancreas (causing severe stomach pain that radiates to the back side of the body)
- signs of block in the gut (such as severe stomach pain, constipation with stomach discomfort or bloating, nausea and vomiting)
- signs of kidney problems (such as passing no urine or little urine, bloody urine, changes in urine color, lowe back pain, nausea, vomiting, tiredness)
- signs of low blood count (such as tiredness, pale skin, increased infections, breathing difficulties, fever, chills, sore throat, mouth ulcers, unusual bleeding or bruising)
- severe skin reactions (such as skin rash with itching and redness, blistering and peeling of skin, skin swelling and inflammation of mucous membrane)
- signs of liver problems (such as fever, muscle pain, rashes, itching, stomach pain, diarrhea, discoloration of eyes, skin and urine)
How To Manage Side Effects
Nausea and vomiting:
Take ENAL H 10MG TABLET with or just after a meal or a snack. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating rich or spicy food. Consult your doctor if your nausea worsens.
Dizziness:
Try to rest and relax. Get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operating any tools or machines completely while you are feeling dizzy. Do not consume excessive alcohol, as it could aggravate your dizziness. Consult your doctor if your dizziness worsens.
Headache:
Rest and relax. Keep yourself hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids such as water or electrolytes. Applying a pain-relieving balm on your forehead can be beneficial. Do not consume excessive alcohol, as it could aggravate your headache. Consult your doctor if your headache worsens.
Constipation:
Eat plenty of fibre rich foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables and cereals. Drink plenty of fluids. Exercise more regularly. Consult your doctor if this side effect bothers you.

Pregnancy
ENAL H 10MG TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant women as it may cause serious harm to the growing fetus. Therefore, inform your doctor before taking this medicine if you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant or planning to have a baby. If you accidentally become pregnant while undergoing therapy with ENAL H 10MG TABLET, inform your doctor immediately.
Breastfeeding
ENAL H 10MG TABLET is not recommended for use in breast-feeding women. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.
Driving and Using Machines
Do not drive or operate any heavy tools or machines if you feel dizzy after taking ENAL H 10MG TABLET.
Alcohol
Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking ENAL H 10MG TABLET as it may severely decrease your blood pressure and make you feel dizzier or faint.
Kidney
ENAL H 10MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe kidney impairment (including dialysis). It should be used with caution in patients with other kidney problems (including kidney transplantation or renal artery stenosis). Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.
Liver
ENAL H 10MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe liver problems. It should be used with caution in patients with other liver problems. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.
Allergy
Do not take ENAL H 10MG TABLET if you are allergic to Hydrochlorothiazide, Enalapril or to any other ACE inhibitor (such as captopril lisinopril, ramipril).
Lungs
ENAL H 10MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with asthma. It should also be used with caution among patients who previously developed any breathing problems following the consumption of this medicine. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.
Heart Disease
ENAL H 10MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with heart problems (such as ischemic heart disease (low oxygen supply to heart muscles), heart block, narrowing of heart valves, heart failure etc.). Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.

ENAL H 10MG TABLET is not recommended for you, if you:
- have a family history of allergic reactions (such as angioedema)
- are not passing urine
- have diabetes with impaired kidney functions
- have severe low blood pressure (hypotension)

- have any blood disorders
- have low blood pressure
- are on a salt-restricted diet

- have any desensitization management (used to reduce the effect of an allergy to bee or wasp stings)

ENAL H 10MG TABLET is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (aged below 18 years). Therefore, consult your doctor before consumption.
Use in Geriatrics:
ENAL H 10MG TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.

Before taking ENAL H 10MG TABLET inform to your doctor, if you are taking any of the following medicines such as:
- medicines used for heart conditions such as hypertension, chest pain, irregular heartbeats or heart failure (Ex. atenolol, propranolol, nitroglycerin, valsartan, candesartan, irbesartan, methyldopa, aliskiren, amiodarone, sotalol, quinidine, hydroquinidine, disopyramide, dofetilide, ibutilide, procainamide, digitalis, sacubitril/valsartan)
- medicines used to manage organ transplant rejection (Ex. ciclosporin, temsirolimus, sirolimus, everolimus)
- racecadotril (a medicine used to manage diarrhea)
- anti-diabetic medicines and insulin (used to lower the blood glucose level) Ex. vildagliptin, metformin
- medicines that supplement potassium to the body (Ex. spironolactone, triamterene or amiloride)
- lithium (a medicine used in some types of mental illness)
- thrombolytics (used to dissolve blood clots) Ex. reteplase, tenecteplase
- other diuretics (used to reduce edema) Ex. furosemide, bumetanide
- trimethoprim containing antibiotics (used for infections)
