Introduction About BETASALIC OINTMENT

BETASALIC OINTMENT is a combination of Betamethasone and Salicylic acid which belongs to the group of medicines called Topical Corticosteroids and Keratolytic agents respectively. It is used to manage subacute and chronic hyperkeratotic and dry skin diseases which respond to external topical steroid therapy. These conditions include psoriasis, keratosis palmaris et plantaris (keratinisation of the palm of the hand and the sole of the foot), chronic eczema or allergic skin diseases, endogenous eczema/atopic dermatitis, seborrhoeic eczema, dyshidrosis lemellosa sicca (itching, dry, squamous vesicles on palms of the hand, sides of fingers or foot-soles), lichen planus, lichen simplex and ichthyosis.

How BETASALIC OINTMENT Works

BETASALIC OINTMENT is a combination of Betamethasone and Salicylic acid. Betamethasone works by blocking the production of certain inflammatory mediators called prostaglandins in the body and thus reduces the redness and swelling. It has anti-inflammatory proteins which are responsible for removing the scaly layers of the skin and reduces the redness and itchiness caused by the various skin problems. Salicylic acid manages the skin lesions by peeling the outer layer of the skin and helps to re-establish the normal skin by removing the dead skin. It also promotes the fast absorption of betamethasone into the skin.
