BECLATE 400 ROTACAP contains Beclomethasone which belongs to the group of medicines called Corticosteroids. It is used prophylactically to manage asthma in patients who need regular management.
BECLATE 400 ROTACAP is for inhalation use only, therefore do not swallow the medicine. Inhale the medicine only through your mouth into the lungs and not via nose. It is suitable for use both in adults and in adolescents (aged 12 years or above).
BECLATE 400 ROTACAP should not be used to relieve a sudden asthma attack. Instead contact your doctor or use a fast-acting ‘rescue’ inhaler to subside the symptoms. BECLATE 400 ROTACAP is only meant to manage asthma from coming back, therefore it should be used regularly as instructed by your doctor to achieve better control over your symptoms.
Before using BECLATE 400 ROTACAP inform your doctor if you have any lung infections (tuberculosis), liver problems or kidney problems. You must also inform your doctor if you have weak bones, weak immune system or any systemic infections as a precaution.
BECLATE 400 ROTACAP should be used in pregnant and in breastfeeding women only if it is considered necessary by the physician. The most common side effects of using BECLATE 400 ROTACAP are oral thrush, sore tongue, throat irritation and hoarse voice. Contact your doctor if any of these side effect worsens.

How BECLATE 400 ROTACAP Works
BECLATE 400 ROTACAP is an inhalational corticosteroid. It blocks the release of certain chemical messengers in the airways (such as histamines, prostaglandins, leukotrienes) that cause allergic reaction, inflammation and swelling. It also reduces the over activity of the certain immune cells (such as mast cells, eosinophils) in the airway tract. As a result, it reduces airway inflammation, allows the air to pass through more freely through the airways and makes breathing easier.
How to use BECLATE 400 ROTACAP
Use BECLATE 400 ROTACAP every day until your doctor tells you to stop. It is meant for inhalation use only. Inhale the medicine only through your mouth into the lungs and not via nose.
Closely follow the instructions given by your doctor regarding the number of inhalations and dosing intervals.
- Insert the capsule into the capsule chamber or into the hole present in the inhalation device and pierce it my adjusting the device
- Place the mouthpiece of the device between your teeth and close your mouth tightly. Breath in through your mouth deeply and rapidly
- Hold your breath for 10 seconds or for as long as is comfortable and then breathe out normally. Repeat the same steps for further inhalations as well
Once inhalation is over, rinse your mouth with water and spit it out or brush your teeth.
Do not start using this medicine unless your doctor or health care provider has taught you how to use and you understand how to use it correctly.
Side Effects Of BECLATE 400 ROTACAP
Common

Rare
Stop using BECLATE 400 ROTACAP and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
- severe allergic reactions (such as sudden wheezing, cough, shortness of breath, skin rash, itching, swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat, breathing difficulties, sudden fast heartbeat which can cause fainting or light-headedness)
- worsening of wheezing
How To Manage Side Effects
Throat irritation:
Gargle your throat with salt water twice a day. Always try to drink warm water. Avoid chilled, cooled or sweetened food items or beverages. Drinking turmeric milk or ginger tea mixed with honey and pepper powder can ease the soreness. Consult your doctor if the symptom did not improve.
Skin rash:
Avoid hot showers because hot water can irritate your skin further. Do not scratch the affected area. Use protective clothing when going outdoors. Regularly moisturize your skin. Consult your doctor if the symptom did not improve.
Oral thrush:
Rinsing the mouth with water right after using BECLATE 400 ROTACAP can manage thrush from recurring. If the symptoms persist or worsen, consult your doctor immediately but do not stop using BECLATE 400 ROTACAP unless your doctor advice you to stop it.

Pregnancy
BECLATE 400 ROTACAP should be used in pregnant women only if it is considered necessary by the doctor. Your doctor may prescribe this medicine after outweighing the risk and benefits to you and your baby. Therefore, inform your doctor before using it.
Breastfeeding

Driving and Using Machines

Kidney

Allergy

Use in Paediatrics:
BECLATE 400 ROTACAP can be used in children and adolescents (aged 12 years or above) if advised by the physician. It is not recommended for use in children younger than 12 years of age. Therefore, consult your doctor before using it.
Use in Geriatrics:
BECLATE 400 ROTACAP should be used with caution in elderly patients (aged 65 years or above). Therefore, consult your doctor before using it.
Interactions
A. Drug - Drug interactions:
Before using BECLATE 400 ROTACAP, inform your physician if you are taking any of the following medicines such as:
- medicines used to manage HIV infection (Ex. ritonavir, atazanavir, indinavir, nelfinavir, saquinavir or cobicistat)
Overdosage
If you or anyone else accidentally inhaled excessive amount of this medicine, contact your doctor immediately or go to the hospital straight away.
