Introduction About AZIDAC DT 100 TABLET

AZIDAC DT 100 TABLET is used in pediatric patients to manage mild-to-moderate infections caused by susceptible strains of designated microorganisms such as acute otitis media, pharyngitis/tonsillitis, sinusitis, acute bronchitis, and community-acquired pneumonia.

It is also used to manage uncomplicated skin and soft tissue infections, which is also indicated for use to manage genital infections such as urethritis and cervicitis (caused by Chlamydia trachomatis) in affected children.

It contains a medicine called azithromycin, which belongs to the group of medicines called Antibiotics that works by preventing the growth of bacteria and helps clear up the infection.

AZIDAC DT 100 TABLET is not recommended for use in children allergic to azithromycin, erythromycin, and/or other macrolide/ketolide antibiotics. It is also not recommended for use in children suffering from cholestatic jaundice, hepatic dysfunction, and/or severe liver disease.

Before administering AZIDAC DT 100 TABLET, inform your doctor if the child has kidney and/or heart problems.

AZIDAC DT 100 TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant and breastfeeding women since it is used only in children and adolescents (aged 6 months to 18 years). It is also not recommended for use in elderly patients.

The most common side effects of administering AZIDAC DT 100 TABLET in children are diarrhea, stomach pain, vomiting, nausea, rash, headache, and/or altered taste sensation. Consult your doctor if any of these symptoms become worse in the child.

Uses Of AZIDAC DT 100 TABLET

It is used in pediatric patients:

  • To manage mild-to-moderate bacterial infections caused by susceptible strains of designated microorganisms (such as acute otitis media, pharyngitis/tonsillitis, sinusitis, acute bronchitis, and community-acquired pneumonia)
  • To manage uncomplicated skin and soft tissue infections
  • To manage uncomplicated genital infections such as urethritis and cervicitis (caused by Chlamydia trachomatis)

How AZIDAC DT 100 TABLET Works

AZIDAC DT 100 TABLET works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis (essential for the bacteria's growth) that results in its destruction, thus managing its growth and spread of infection in affected individuals.

How to use AZIDAC DT 100 TABLET

Take this medicine as advised by your physician.

For Tablet, Capsule: Swallow AZIDAC DT 100 TABLET with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine.

For Dispersible Tablet: Disperse AZIDAC DT 100 TABLET in the specified quantity of water as mentioned on the label. Consume the mixture immediately after reconstitution.

Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending upon your age, body weight, and disease condition.

Side Effects Of AZIDAC DT 100 TABLET

Common side effects of AZIDAC DT 100 TABLET:

  • diarrhea, stomach pain, vomiting, nausea

  • vision impairment

Stop administering AZIDAC DT 100 TABLET and consult your doctor immediately in case the child experiences:

  • signs of hepatitis (inflammation of the liver) such as fever, tiredness, nausea, vomiting

  • signs of angioedema (painless swelling under the skin) such as difficulty breathing, swollen eyes & mouth, abdominal cramping
  • signs of cholestatic jaundice such as yellowing of skin and whites of eyes, dark urine, loss of appetite

  • efavirenz, nelfinavir, didanosine, indinavir, and nelfinavir (medicines used in the management of HIV)
  • fluconazole (used to manage fungal infection)
  • atorvastatin (used to lower cholesterol and triglyceride levels in the blood)
  • carbamazepine (used to manage epilepsy and nerve pain)
  • cetirizine (used to manage allergic symptoms, hay fever, conjunctivitis)
  • midazolam (used to produce sleepiness/drowsiness and relieve anxiety before surgery)
  • rifabutin (used to inhibit or slow the spread of Mycobacterium avium complex disease)
  • sildenafil (used to manage erectile dysfunction)
  • theophylline (used to manage symptoms of asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, and other lung diseases)
  • triazolam (to manage insomnia)

  • pimozide (used to reduce uncontrolled movements)
