The catheter is gently inserted into the urethra until urine begins to flow, then advanced a few more centimeters to ensure it is correctly positioned in the bladder. Once in place, the balloon is inflated with sterile water via the designated port to secure the catheter. The drainage port is then connected to a urine collection bag, which should be kept below the bladder level.
