Amyl Nitrosum is homoeopathically prepared from Amyl nitrate. It acts powerfully upon the motor centers of the spinal cord producing rapid dilatation of the arterioles and capillaries. Hence used as a palliative in conditions where blood vessels are spasmodically contracted, as in angina pectoris, epileptic seizures, paroxysms of asthma, asphyxia etc. where inhalation of amyl nitrosum will give immediate relief. It helps in patients sinking under anesthesia , here given by olfaction.
