How Thiocolchicoside works

Thiocolchicoside works through selective binding to the GABA-A receptor (neurotransmitter). It prevents muscle contractions by activating the GABA-inhibitory motor pathway and inhibiting the glycine receptors (neurotransmitters). Thus, relaxing the muscle pain and spasms.

  • In case of accidental overdosage
  • If you experience signs of liver problem (such as loss of appetite, nausea or vomiting, abdominal discomfort, unexplained fatigue, dark-colored urine, jaundice, fever, itching)
  • If you experience angioedema (such as sudden swelling of the neck and face, possibly causing difficulty breathing)

  • Avoid consuming alcohol while taking thiocolchicoside, as it can increase the risk of drowsiness and dizziness, which are common side effects of this medication
  • It is not recommended for use in individuals with flaccid paralysis and muscular hypotonia (muscle weakness). Also, it is not recommended for use in children below 16 years of age
  • Before taking thiocolchicoside inform your doctor if you are taking or have recently taken prescription medicines, over the counter drugs (OTC), supplements including herbal products as it may interact with each other leading to potential decrease in therapeutic effectiveness or increase the risk of any unusual effects
