Solifenacin is used to treat the signs of overactive bladder (such as sudden urge to pass urine, increased frequency of passing urine, unable to control urine and wetting yourself).

How Solifenacin works

Solifenacin is a muscle relaxant which relaxes the smooth muscles surrounding the bladder. This helps your bladder to hold more volume of urine and controls urine flow. As a result, it reduces the activity of an overactive bladder and enables you to wait longer before passing urine. 

Common side effects of Solifenacin

• dry mouth
• blurred vision
• nausea
• constipation, indigestion, stomach pain/discomfort
• sense of fullness in the stomach, burping, heartburn

When to consult your doctor

Consult your doctor:

• In case of accidental overdosage
• If you experience, any signs of allergic reactions (such as skin rash, peeling and blistering, swelling of the face, lips, mouth, or throat which can lead to difficulty in breathing or swallowing)
  

Health Tips for Solifenacin

• Drink plenty of fluids while taking this medicine to prevent dehydration
• It is best to take this medicine on an empty stomach, at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal
• Avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medicine. Alcohol can increase the side effects of the medication
