Uses of Sodium Feredetate

Sodium Feredetate is used to treat iron deficiency anemia in adults at higher dose and a lower dose is used in pediatric patients to treat the same.

How Sodium Feredetate works

Sodium Feredetate works by directly increasing the iron stores in the body, thereby increasing the synthesis of haemoglobin and myoglobin (oxygen carrying pigment in muscles).

• in case of accidental overdosage
• if you experience signs of allergic reactions such as rashes, itching, shortness of breath, and noisy breathing
  

Health Tips for Sodium Feredetate

• Take Sodium Feredetate on an empty stomach either 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals to enhance absorption
• Avoid consuming calcium rich foods or supplements (Ex. dairy products) as it can interfere with the absorption of iron. To maximise iron absorption, separate the intake of calcium-rich foods or supplements from Sodium Feredetate by at least 2 hours
• Maintain a balanced diet that includes iron rich foods, such as lean meats, beans, lentils, dark leafy greens, and fortified cereals can help support the replenishment of iron stores in the body
