Uses of S(-)Pantoprazole

S(-)Pantoprazole is used to treat peptic ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) or reflux esophagitis and its associated symptoms such as acidity, heartburn, acid reflux and pain in swallowing.

How S(-)Pantoprazole works

S(-)Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor. It reduces gastric acid secretion by the blocking the actions of a protein membrane called H+K+Atpase (proton pump) across the stomach lining. As a result, it prevents the worsening of ulcers, heals the existing ulcers and esophageal lesions and provides relief from the unpleasant symptoms of GI tract (such as acidity, heartburn and acid reflux).

Consult your doctor:

  • In case of accidental overdosage
  • If you experience, any signs of allergic reactions (such as skin rash, swelling of the face, lips, mouth, or throat which can lead to difficulty in breathing or swallowing)
  • If you experience signs of liver problems (yellowing of the skin and eyes, dark urine and tiredness)
  • If you experience severe skin reactions (such as redness, blistering, peeling of skin and bleeding in the lips, eyes, mouth, nose and genitals with fever)
  • If you experience signs of kidney problem (such as lower back pain, painful urination)
  • If you experience signs of low magnesium levels in blood (such as tiredness, abnormal muscle movements, dizziness, confusion, disorientation, irregular heartbeat)

  • Take this medicine on an empty stomach, at least 30 minutes before a meal
  • Drink an adequate amount of water or fluids throughout the day. Proper hydration helps with digestion and overall health
  • Avoid alcohol and tobacco. Both alcohol and tobacco can irritate the stomach lining and increase the risk of gastrointestinal issues
